Job summary
The Chaseley Trust is a Charity owned high care facility specialising in neuro-disability care, located with a beautiful outlook onto Eastbourne seafront. We are currently recruiting Registered Nurses to join our team. Do you have a wide range of clinical skills? Are you interested in neurological care?

Chaseleys home environment is a cross between a nursing home and a hospital, so all Registered Nurses can develop their skills within a clinical setting. Main duties of the job
We are looking for enthusiastic and highly motivated Registered Nurses to join our team, working 12.5 hour shifts across seven days.

Our Registered Nurses form part of the senior nursing team working in partnership with the Clinical Managers. Part of your role as a Registered Nurse will include providing leadership to the care team through the active promotion of Chaseleys values.

The successful Registered Nurses will provide and supervise the delivery of high-quality, complex nursing care to residents and maintain professional and clinical standards, whilst ensuring our residents physical and psychological needs are met. Your role will require you to assess, plan and deliver, with the resident and their loved ones, nursing care that encompasses the residents own wishes. In addition, you will undertake the management of medication and work in partnership with our Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy teams and external professionals.

Our integrated on-site professionals, including physiotherapists, care staff, nursing specialists and activities facilitators collaborate to deliver person-centred care to residents and outpatients.

We have a dedicated GP service five-days a week to review complex care needs, facilitating changes and making specialised referrals.

Job responsibilities
Quality and Regulation
  • Assess the residents physical, psychological and social needs and compile a care plan in collaboration with the resident, family and any other relevant health care professional
  • Plan, implement and evaluate the nursing care in relation to the residents dynamic needs in accordance with clinical policy and regulatory framework with other appropriate health care professionals
  • Ensure all the entries into the nursing records meet NMC standards for record keeping
  • Participate in the formal audit programme within your level of competence
  • Maintain registration with the NMC
  • Comply with the NMC code at all times
  • Allocate an appropriate key worker to each resident on admission
  • Support the Registered Nurses, Care Practitioners and Carers in the home with clinical advice
  • Visit each resident each day whilst on duty and ensure appropriate nursing care is delivered in a professional and timely manner by the care team under your supervision
  • Support the senior clinical staff in the home and if appropriate and within your level of competence assist with any clinical investigations or complaints

Clinical
  • Comply with the NMC administration of medication administration and clinical policy to ensure that processes are followed to ensure the safe ordering, custody, storing, disposal, recording and administration of all medication
  • Manage stock levels and replenishment of all appropriate clinical supplies.
  • Maintain and develop continual professional development and clinical skills to enable safe and effective clinical practice in line with NMC revalidation process and contribute to continuous process improvements with regard to clinical and non-clinical policy
  • Maintain professional communication with clinical line manager and take every opportunity to discuss the quality of care and any clinical concerns that may arise and any issues related to safeguarding in a timely manner.
  • Support residents in understanding the ageing process and how it affects their health and lifestyle. Support residents to maximize their independence and create the environment which supports their physical and mental well-being and ensure that all residents are treated with dignity
  • Adhere to the local safeguarding policy and the reporting mechanisms. Contribute to any safeguarding investigation within the home, following the Duty of Candour requirements
  • Comply with the accident/incident reporting policy to maintain the safety of staff and residents in the home, following the Duty of Candour requirements. Undertake a RCA of an accident/incident and produce a report for the Clinical Manager/Home manager when required
  • Support all residents with their individual diagnosis who may require additional psychological or emotional support.

Leadership
  • To model person centered care in your practice.
  • Help with leading a multi-disciplinary shift team, supervising staff in all respects including orientation of new and agency staff, allocating and coordinating team members to deliver care to the appropriate resident groups and supervising the delivery of quality care delivered to residents providing support, supervision and mentoring as required within your scope of competence and as per the NMC code
  • Assist the support of clinical supervision, preceptorship, mentor, induction and Care practitioner programmes in line with the NMC code
  • Work collaboratively with the activities team in the home to provide a comprehensive daily activities programme to ensure residents spiritual and social needs are met
  • Support other clinical staff in the home and manage the supervised practice nurse/care practitioner programmes and contribute to the supervision, mentoring and competency of these roles within your scope of competence
  • To work collaboratively with colleagues across all disciplines within The Chaseley Trust and external agencies to develop and sustain best clinical practice.

General

  • Any other reasonable task requested by your line manager or senior management team, which is within your competence.
  • Support the clinical training programme through facilitating staff to attend informal and formal training opportunities
