Go back Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust Immunisation Nurse The closing date is 09 August 2026 Site: West Middlesex University Hospital * An opportunity has come up for a nurse or midwife to join our antenatal clinic team to work as the band 6 Immunisation Nurse / Midwife providing clinical expertise to pregnant women. This is for 12 months maternity leave cover. * The nurse/midwife will be responsible for leading the immunisation maternity service and supporting/advising staff, women and their families. * The Nurse / Midwife will be responsible for reporting all immunisation data to the Trust and Public Health England accordingly. Please note advert will be closed once sufficient number of applications have been received Main duties of the job To work as the lead Immunisation Nurse / Midwife providing clinical expertise to pregnant women. The lead nurse/midwife will be responsible for leading the immunisation maternity service and supporting/advising staff, women and their families. The Nurse / Midwife will be responsible for reporting all immunisation data to the Trust and Public Health England accordingly. * Work in partnership with the client, Midwives, GP, obstetricians and other agencies to ensure that all women are offered and given where appropriate Seasonal Influenza, Pertussis and Covid-19 vaccinations, RSV and any other vaccine programs introduced by the trust. * Lead and manage the maternity immunisation service, ensuring 7 day a week cover is maintained * Manage Band 5 Nurses and Band 3 support workers within the immunisation service. * Assess, plan, implement and evaluate the care of pregnant women regarding their options of vaccinations during pregnancy in accordance with the Trusts policies and guidelines. * Strive for continuity of care and informed client choice within the limitations of the service. * Facilitate the learning of immunisation and vaccination skills through supervision, teaching and support. * Actively promote and encourage a healthy lifestyle, advising and arranging vaccination support for women as required. * Ensure that all mandatory stats are reported to Public Health England and the Trust as appropriate. Some roles may require weekend shifts at multiple sites. Job responsibilities Clinical Practice Strive for continuity of care and informed client choice within the limitations of the service. Facilitate the learning of immunisation and vaccination skills through supervision, teaching and support. Actively promote and encourage a healthy lifestyle, advising and arranging vaccination support for women as required. Practice, maintain and teach vaccination clinical skills to appropriate staff groups e.g. Midwives, Obstetricians, student midwives and medical students, nurses and maternity support worker colleagues. Ensure that appropriate vaccinations are offered to all pregnant women and that they are actively encouraged to uptake. Ensure that each women and her partner are given up to date informed choice regarding immunisations. Maintain up to date medical immunisation records. * Facilitate the learning of clinical immunisation skills through supporting /supervising appropriate colleagues. * Support women in accepting the offer of all 3 immunisations in pregnancy and their partner * Ensure quality standards are met. * Influence policy through setting, monitoring and reviewing standards and procedures within the clinical governance framework. * Participate in audit programmes in line with service development and needs. * Maintain up to date professional knowledge, which is demonstrated through clinical practice. * Maintain ordering and storing of vaccinations ensuring they are quality checked in and out and correct storage, refrigerator temperature recording and monitoring. * Assess, plan, implement and evaluate the care of pregnant women regarding their options of vaccinations during pregnancy in accordance with the Trusts policies and guidelines PLEASE SEE JOB DESCRIPTION AND PERSON SPECIFICATION FOR FULL DETAILS OF ROLE. Person Specification Education and Qualifications * Registered Nurse or Midwife * Trained in immunisation * Degree or Diploma in Nursing or Midwifery or related subject Experience * Demonstrable immunisation experience in caring for the pregnant women * Evidence of continued professional within nursing or midwifery * Demonstrable experience in teaching and assessing immunisation * Ability to offer informed choice on immunisation in pregnancy to the women and her partner * Professional development management and ability to do staff PDRs Skills and knowledge * Demonstrable clinical skills * Demonstrable ability to work within the MDT * Ability to lead and manage a team * Ability to make decisions, organise and prioritise * Ability to maintain excel spread sheets * Ability to work with minimal supervision Disclosure and Barring Service Check This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
