Job description

Associate Building Surveyor
Glasgow
Salary up to 65k
Are you an experienced senior-level Chartered Building Surveyor ready to take the next step into an Associate-level position? We're partnering with a leading multidisciplinary consultancy that's continuing to grow its Building Surveying team in Glasgow and is looking for an ambitious individual who enjoys leading projects, developing people, and building lasting client relationships.

This is an opportunity to join a highly respected consultancy working on a diverse range of high-profile projects across the commercial, healthcare, education, retail, energy and public sectors. From large-scale refurbishments to complex estate improvement programmes, you'll play a key role in delivering projects that have a lasting impact on communities across the UK.

The Opportunity
As an Associate Building Surveyor, you'll take ownership of a varied project portfolio while helping to shape the future of the team. You'll lead multidisciplinary project delivery, manage key client relationships and support the continued growth of the business through mentoring, business development and technical excellence.

This role offers the perfect balance of project delivery, leadership and commercial responsibility, making it ideal for someone looking to progress their career within a collaborative and forward-thinking consultancy.

Key Responsibilities of the Associate Building Surveyor:

  • Lead refurbishment, improvement and modernisation projects across a range of sectors.
  • Carry out feasibility studies, prepare specifications and manage projects from inception through to completion.
  • Administer contracts using JCT and NEC forms of contract.
  • Deliver a broad range of professional Building Surveying services including inspections, surveys, schedules and technical reporting.
  • Manage client relationships and ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.
  • Mentor and support junior surveyors, including acting as an APC Supervisor for colleagues working towards Chartership.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and line management to members of the Building Surveying team.
  • Support business development activities, prepare fee proposals and contribute to successful bid submissions.
  • Promote best practice in health & safety, statutory compliance and environmental standards across all projects.

About You
We're looking for someone who combines strong technical expertise with excellent leadership and commercial awareness.
You'll ideally have:

  • BSc (Hons) in Building Surveying or another RICS accredited degree.
  • MRICS Chartered status.
  • Extensive Building Surveying experience gained within a consultancy environment.
  • Strong knowledge of contract administration and professional Building Surveying services.
  • Experience managing projects, clients and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Commercial awareness with the ability to identify and develop new business opportunities.
  • Previous experience mentoring graduates and supporting APC candidates.
  • Excellent technical report writing and specification preparation skills.
  • A thorough understanding of current Building Regulations, Health & Safety legislation and statutory compliance.
  • Outstanding organisational and communication skills with a proactive approach to project delivery.

What's on Offer?

  • Work on nationally significant and technically challenging projects.
  • Clear progression to senior leadership.
  • A collaborative, people focused culture.
  • Exposure to a wide variety of sectors and prestigious clients.
  • Ongoing professional development and support… and more!

If you're looking for an Associate role where you can genuinely influence projects, develop future talent and help grow an already successful Building Surveying team, apply today!
