Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant - Full Time

Location: Birmingham
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm
Role Type: Full-Time

Teaching Personnel is recruiting enthusiastic and resilient graduates to work within specialist schools across Birmingham, supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN). This is an excellent opportunity to build valuable experience, develop transferable skills, and make a real difference to the lives of young people.

We are seeking individuals with a strong understanding of psychology and a genuine passion for supporting students with additional needs. Successful candidates will work as Teaching Assistants, helping pupils achieve their full potential both academically and socially.

About the Schools

Our partner specialist schools support children and young people with a range of needs, including:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • Mild Learning Difficulties (MLD)
  • Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD)
  • Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
  • Down Syndrome
  • Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support students within classroom environments
  • Work with pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging learning activities
  • Promote independence, confidence, and social inclusion
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students
  • Follow school safeguarding procedures and policies at all times

Person Specification

We're looking for candidates who:

  • Have a warm, approachable, and supportive manner
  • Remain calm and positive in challenging situations
  • Believe every child can achieve their potential
  • Are resilient, confident, and committed to supporting young people
  • Have experience working with children or young people with SEN (desirable but not essential)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
