Do you want to use your paediatric nursing experience, skills and qualifications to make a meaningful difference to children and their families during some of the most challenging times in their lives?

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for a Registered Paediatric Nurse to join our highly skilled and compassionate care team at Ty Hafan Children’s Hospice.

About the role

As a Registered Paediatric Nurse at Ty Hafan, you will deliver safe, high-quality clinical nursing care to children and young people receiving care in the hospice. Working as part of a supportive multi-disciplinary team, you will help ensure continuity of care and the best possible outcomes for children and their families.

You will use your professional skills to assess, plan and deliver individualised nursing care, providing evidence-based clinical interventions in line with current guidelines, regulations and organisational policies. A key part of the role is supporting families as well as children, delivering truly holistic, family-centred care.

If you are passionate about caring for children and young people with complex needs, and would value working in a peaceful, out-of-town setting where you can take the time to build meaningful relationships with families, this role could be ideal for you.

Shift requirements:

Candidates will be required to work 37.5 hours a week, covering 3 x 12-hrs shifts (days & nights) a week and 1 x 6hrs early or late shift a month. Our shift patterns are as follows:

  • Days 7.00am – 7.30pm (12 hours)
  • Nights 7.00pm – 7.30am (12 hours)
  • Earlies 7.00am – 1pm (6 hours)
  • Lates 1.30pm – 7.30pm (6 hours)

Why join Ty Hafan?

As a Ty Hafan nurse, you will be part of a close-knit and experienced nursing team, known for providing intuitive, creative and compassionate care. You will be supported to maintain and further develop your clinical skills to a high standard, within an environment that values learning, reflection and professional growth.

One of the most rewarding aspects of working at Ty Hafan is having the time and capacity to truly get to know the children and families you support, and to make a lasting positive difference to their lives.

Our teams care for children and young people with a wide range of complex and life-limiting conditions, meaning no two days are the same. The work is varied, challenging and deeply fulfilling.

Our benefits package includes:

  • Unsocial pay enhancements for nights, evenings, weekends and bank holidays (Ranging from +25% to +60%)
  • Reimbursement of annual nursing registration (PIN) fees
  • Holiday entitlement of 30 days (rising to 32 days with service) plus Bank Holidays

  • Life assurance (death in service benefit)
  • Wellbeing support and clinical supervision available both on site and through external providers
  • Employee assistance program, which provides a range of free services including counselling, financial and legal support.
  • Unlimited access to a 24/7 online GP as well as a range of other health experts
  • Healthcare Cash Plan – claim back the cost for appointments and treatment such as dental, optical or physio
  • Employee complementary therapy and yoga sessions offered regularly.
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Discounted gym membership and shopping discounts
  • Subsidised meals, prepared daily by our dedicated catering team
  • Free on-site secured parking.

Learning and Development

We are committed to supporting your professional development. As a Ty Hafan employee, you will benefit from:

  • Up to 10 days per year of protected, on-site skills development
  • Opportunities to apply for postgraduate short courses or external training programmes
  • Support to develop specialist interests and become a clinical champion, contributing to service development and supporting colleagues.

At Ty Hafan, we encourage nurses to grow, progress and shape their careers, while making a profound difference to the lives of children, young people and families.

About us:

At Ty Hafan we are experts at caring for children with life-shortening conditions and our services support families in our hospice, in community settings, local hospitals and in families' homes. We understand that needs of each child and their family are unique and we know that caring for a child with life-shortening condition is often extremely demanding.

Ty Hafan's ambition is that when a child's life will be short, no family should have to live it on their own. Sadly, we know that thousands of families in Wales are struggling alone through fear, exhaustion and uncertainty that comes with caring for a child whose life will be short. We believe that no family should have to live this on their own and we are determined to walk alongside every family through life, death and beyond.

Our colleagues, volunteers and supporter are crucial in the delivery of our ambition - we know that everyone plays a huge part in making sure that no family faces their child's short life alone.

Our Vision: A Wales where every child with life-shortening conditions lives a fulfilling life, supported with the compassion and specialist care and their family need.

Our Purpose: No family should have to face the unimaginable loss of their child alone. With children and families at the heart of all we do, we provide free care and support in our hospice and in community, offering a lifeline throughout the childs short life, at end of life, through bereavement and beyond.

Our Values: At Ty Hafan we make a difference by living our values which are Demonstrating Compassion, Providing Excellent Service, Working Together and Taking Ownership.
