We are seeking a qualified CBT Therapist to join the Mental Health Support Team (MHST) in Oxfordshire on a part time basis. MHSTs are designed to provide early intervention for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties, working closely with education settings. The teams support pupils directly, help schools implement a whole-school approach to mental wellbeing, and offer timely advice to school staff.
We welcome applications from newly qualified CBT Therapists who are working towards their one-year post-qualification BABCP accreditation; successful candidates in this case will be employed on Band 6 AFC pay scale with the view to progress to Band 7 once they achieve BABCP First Audit Accreditation.
You will assess and treat young people using evidence-based interventions and contribute to wider service development alongside senior colleagues, operational leads and education partners. You will also offer support and consultation to families, carers, and professionals.
This is a blended role, combining face-to-face work with digital delivery. You will be based within the West Oxfordshire MHST and there are currently four other CBT therapists based in our other Oxfordshire MHSTs. Travel to education settings will be required.
Join a supportive team and be part of a service transforming access to mental health support in schools and colleges.Main duties of the job- To deliver high quality CBT to young people and families who access the MHST. Exercise professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment and discharge of care. Evaluate and make decisions about suitability for CBT treatment, ensuring work is targeted at psychological difficulties that are likely to be amenable to good outcomes using CBT.
- Provide clinical supervision, support and leadership to Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs), both in training and post-qualification, ensuring delivery of high-quality, evidence-based interventions in schools.
- Offer consultation and supervision to clinical colleagues within the MHST, supporting the use of CBT-informed approaches across the team.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the MHST by supporting case management processes, service governance and the design of structured training packages for junior staff.
- Support schools with whole-school approaches to mental health through consultation, advice and collaboration with wider professionals, including education, social care and public health partners.
- Ensure that clinical work is delivered in line with best practice standards, contributing to audit, service evaluation and the wider development of psychological care within the service.
