Company overview

At Marshalls, we believe building tomorrow's world starts with what we can create together today. Since the 1890s, we've grown from a Yorkshire stone business into a leading UK manufacturer of building, roofing and landscaping solutions. Every day, our colleagues help shape the homes, schools, hospitals, streets and infrastructure that communities across the UK rely on. We're proud of our heritage, excited by what's next and committed to creating opportunities for our colleagues to grow, develop and make a real difference. Together, we're shaping the future of our business, our industry and the places people rely on every day.

We now have a new opportunity for a Credit & Risk Manager to lead our dynamic Credit Account Management function reporting in the Finance Director - Marshalls. This role ensures that customer credit limits, risk exposure, and invoice queries are actively managed to ensure liquidity management is well managed while supporting commercial teams through informed decision-making.

You will lead and develop the Credit and Risk teams, providing clear direction, coaching and performance management to ensure delivery of departmental KPIs, including cash collection, DSO and risk management.

To support cash collection, you will own and manage all customer invoice disputes across the business, ensuring timely resolution and improving the customer experience by monitoring invoice dispute volumes and trends with relevant stakeholders to promote a right-first-time culture.

Forecasting cash collection, reporting performance, and providing insightful analysis that supports effective decision-making across the business are key aspects of the role. Alongside this, continuous improvement across Credit and Risk processes, with a focus on standardisation, automation and simplification, ensuring efficiency and scalability of operations.

You will manage relationships with our credit broker, data providers and external partners, ensuring appropriate coverage is in place and claims are effectively managed. This includes developing and maintain robust risk management strategies, policies and controls, ensuring risks are identified, assessed, monitored and communicated in a timely and effective manner.

You will take ownership of legal escalations where required, ensuring appropriate action is taken to recover debt while balancing commercial considerations.

Finally, you will sponsor a strong risk-aware culture across the organisation, providing guidance, challenge and support to stakeholders to ensure informed and balanced decisions are made.
