Job description
Go back Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust Clinical Safety Manager The closing date is 09 August 2026 This pivotal Band 8a role will champion a culture of high-quality care, robust governance, and continuous learning. You will lead on patient safety, quality improvement, and assurance frameworks, ensuring our services meet national standards, deliver excellent outcomes, and promote a culture of openness and transparency. There will be access to learning and development regarding formal systems-based investigation training where needed. This generally includes 2 to 3 days of specialised training focusing onsystems thinking, human factors, non-judgmental interviewing, and compassionate engagement with affected families and staff. You will need to complete Levels 1 and 2 of the National Patient Safety Syllabus to be conversant with SEIPS If this role appeals to your skill set please do get in touch or apply. Main duties of the job * Overseeing governance and assurance systems, ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory frameworks. * Coordinating high-quality incident investigations under PSIRF and ensuring meaningful learning is embedded. * Producing investigation reports (AAR and PSII level) in line with the expectations of the Trust embedding of PSIRF. * Leading on the analysis of complex data to identify trends, highlight risks, and inform strategic priorities. * Delivering specialist training and education programmes to strengthen organisational capability in governance and patient safety. * Supporting workforce development through visible leadership, effective communication, and fostering psychological safety. * Keeping abreast of emerging best practice, research, and innovation to advance governance and quality standards. * Managing complex and sensitive information with professionalism, empathy, and clarity. * Contributing to research, audit, evaluation, and quality improvement projects at service, Trust, and system levels About us Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is the leading provider of mental health, learning disability, neurodevelopmental and drug and alcohol services in Surrey and North East Hampshire. Job responsibilities Please check the job description & person specification document for more information on the requirements for this job Person Specification * NMC, HCPC or Social Work England * Educated to Masters level or equivalent level qualification/experience * Evidence of ongoing post-registration education in a related field; eg enhanced risk assessment skills * Evidence of ability to utilise and develop report writing * Up to date knowledge and application of: data protection, patient confidentiality, risk management, health & safety, safeguarding. extensive and up to date working knowledge of, the principles of change management * Managerial/operational experience at senior level written and veral * Evidence of analytical skills * Evidence of excellent organisational skills.
