Lecturer in Health & Social Care Application Deadline: 6 August 2026 Department: Central Health & Safety Employment Type: Permanent - Part Time Location: Multiple sites Compensation: £13,331 - £24,080 / year Description Are you passionate about developing the next generation of health and social care professionals? We are seeking an enthusiastic and inspiring Lecturer in Health and Social Care to join our dedicated curriculum team, delivering high-quality education across Sandwell College and the Midland Metropolitan Learning Campus. The role is a part-time, permanent opportunity. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced educator or industry professional with a background in Health, Social Care or Nursing to inspire learners and help them achieve outstanding outcomes. Working within a supportive and innovative department, you will deliver engaging teaching, contribute to curriculum development and provide outstanding pastoral support that enables students to thrive. As part of our growing Health and Social Care provision, you will work collaboratively with colleagues, employers and healthcare partners to ensure our learners develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to progress successfully into higher education or employment within the sector. Key Responsibilities * Deliver outstanding Health and Social Care programmes as directed by the Head of Section * Plan, prepare and deliver engaging lessons that inspire and motivate learners * Contribute to curriculum planning, development and continuous quality improvement * Take responsibility for course delivery, course tutorship and personal tutoring * Develop innovative learning resources using Information Learning Technology (ILT) and multimedia platforms * Monitor learner progress, provide effective pastoral support and promote excellent student outcomes * Maintain accurate academic and administrative records using College systems * Support the development and expansion of Health and Social Care provision * Work collaboratively with employers, healthcare partners and external organisations to enhance the learner experience * Contribute to quality assurance activities and support the delivery of outstanding teaching, learning and assessment Skills, Knowledge and Expertise We are looking for someone who can demonstrate: * A degree and/or relevant professional qualification in Health and Social Care, Nursing or a related subject * A Certificate in Education or Level 5 Teaching Qualification * Experience of delivering outstanding teaching, learning and assessment * Experience of teaching Pearson BTEC and/or NCFE Health and Social Care qualifications * Experience of developing engaging teaching and learning resources * Strong organisational, administrative and communication skills * The ability to motivate, inspire and support learners from a wide range of backgrounds * Confidence using Information Learning Technology (ILT) and digital learning platforms to enhance teaching * The ability to adapt teaching approaches to meet the needs of diverse learner groups * Experience of providing pastoral support and monitoring learner achievement * A collaborative approach with a commitment to continuous improvement, safeguarding and equality, diversity and inclusion * A Science or Nursing background is highly desirable Teaching Qualifications & Salary Banding To be eligible for our Qualified Lecturer salary banding (£31,837 - £48,160), you must hold one of the following teaching qualifications: * DTTLS (Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector) * Certificate in Education * PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education) * ProfGCE (Professional Graduate Certificate in Education) * DET (Diploma in Education and Training) * DiT (Diploma in Teaching) – if for a vocational subject If you do not hold one of the above qualifications, you will fall into our Unqualified Lecturer salary banding (£26,661 - £29,998).
