Job summary
LSCFT's adult mental health services are designed to meet the holistic needs of service users/patients and carers, in a working environment conducive to staff development and wellbeing. Moorgate Ward is an 8 bedded male Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). The post holder will work in collaboration with the ward manager, and other team members within the multidisciplinary team. The post holder will work a flexible shift pattern including weekend working, providing day to day clinical leadership to the direct care team.

Main duties of the job
Are you an experienced and compassionate Registered Mental Health Nurse ready to take the next step in your career? We are looking for a skilled Clinical Practitioner to join Moorgate Ward, our 8-bedded male Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit at The Harbour. This will be a 3-month secondment. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering high-quality, safe and therapeutic care to people with acute mental health needs, while providing day-to-day clinical leadership to the wider team. You will be a Registered Mental Health Nurse with substantial inpatient mental health experience, strong clinical judgement and a passion for improving outcomes for patients and carers. You will be confident in managing risk, supporting staff, working across professional boundaries and contributing to service development. We are particularly looking for someone who can combine clinical credibility with kindness, resilience and a commitment to least restrictive, person-centred care. Qualifications
  • Registered Mental Health Nurse
  • Diploma/Degree Level qualification

Knowledge
  • Knowledge of current key NHS developments and policies and implications for service delivery
  • Demonstrable Knowledge and skills in evidence based needs led assessments, of highly complex and co-morbid presentations of people with learning disabilities, autism and mental illness, their families and carers.
  • Good knowledge of legislation, acts and developments relevant to people with learning disabilities and mental illness within inpatient settings (MHA, MCA, Human rights act, use of force act, Care Act)

Experience
  • Experience of working within an inpatient setting Experience of utilising a range of assessment methods including risk assessment
  • Evidence of extensive professional clinical knowledge, skill and experience in contemporary clinical practice within mental health
  • Experience of partnership working across a range of agencies and professional boundaries
