Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity to join our Perinatal service within Cardiff and Vale. As a band 6 Occupational Therapist you will provide specialist assessment and intervention for women experiencing mental health difficulties during pregnancy and the first postnatal year. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the post holder will support recovery, promote engagement in meaningful daily activities and parenting roles, and help improve outcomes for mothers, babies, and families through evidence-based occupational therapy practice. We are looking for an experienced Occupational Therapist with excellent communication skills to work as part of our team.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide specialist occupational therapy assessments for women experiencing mental health difficulties during pregnancy and the postnatal period.
  • Develop, implement and evaluate person-centred treatment plans to promote recovery, wellbeing, and participation in meaningful occupations.
  • Support women in developing skills and confidence in parenting, self-care, daily routines, community engagement, and vocational roles.
  • Manage and prioritise a defined caseload, undertaking risk assessment and risk management as required.
  • Deliver individual and group-based occupational therapy interventions using evidence-based practice.
  • Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team and liaise with statutory, voluntary and third-sector agencies to ensure coordinated care.
  • Provide advice, education and support to families, carers and other professionals.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to clinical governance, service evaluation and quality improvement activities.
  • Participate in supervision, continuing professional development, student education and the promotion of occupational therapy within the Perinatal Mental Health Service.
  • The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and /or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
