Job overview

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Band Mental Health Physiotherapy Lead to provide clinical leadership across our inpatient services for Older Adults, Adults, and Specialist Directorates. This role is ideal for a highly motivated physiotherapist who thrives in a fast‑paced multidisciplinary environment and is passionate about delivering high‑quality, patient‑centred care.

You will lead and support physiotherapy teams across a diverse range of mental health inpatient wards, ensuring excellent clinical standards, effective service delivery, and a culture of continuous improvement. The postholder will play a key role in shaping service development, supporting workforce growth, and driving innovation in rehabilitation pathways, promoting the role of physiotherapy within mental health settings and a driving a holistic approach to patient care.

Main duties of the job
  • To be the lead for the Mental Health Physiotherapy Team within the Trust.
  • To set and provide a high standard of specialist physiotherapy assessment, treatment and advice to patients with mental health needs, carers and families. Undertaking the lead role in the assessment, diagnosis and formulation of physiotherapy treatment plans.
  • To provide clinical and operational supervision, and act as a source of specialist advice and education to physiotherapists, technical instructors and assistants, as well as the wider multi-disciplinary team.
  • To lead on, and co-ordinate, opportunities for service review and development within the team.
