Job description
Are you passionate about supporting young people and helping them overcome barriers to education?

An established Alternative Provision is seeking a dedicated Community Mentor in High Wycombe to support children and young people across High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, and Berkshire. This rewarding Community Mentor in High Wycombe role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outside of a traditional classroom and is committed to making a lasting difference.

As a Community Mentor in High Wycombe, you will work on a 1:1 basis with pupils who may have SEN, SEMH, or other additional needs, delivering tailored mentoring and educational interventions in a range of community settings. You will build positive relationships, encourage engagement with learning, develop confidence, and help young people achieve positive academic, social, and personal outcomes.

This is a community-based position, meaning you'll travel to a variety of locations, including pupils' homes and local learning environments across Buckinghamshire and Berkshire. A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle are essential for the Community Mentor in High Wycombe role, as regular travel forms a key part of the position. A fuel allowance is provided.

Key Responsibilities

* Deliver personalised 1:1 mentoring and educational support tailored to each young person's individual needs. * Plan and deliver engaging intervention sessions that promote participation and re-engagement with education. * Support pupils with social, emotional, behavioural, and additional learning needs. * Work collaboratively with families, schools, and external professionals to provide consistent support. * Monitor progress, maintain accurate records, and contribute to individual learning and support plans. * Help young people overcome barriers preventing them from accessing education and reaching their full potential.

We're looking for someone who has:

* Experience supporting children or young people in education, mentoring, youth work, outreach, pastoral care, or a similar setting. * A patient, resilient, and adaptable approach with the ability to build trust and rapport. * Excellent communication and organisational skills. * Confidence working independently while managing a varied schedule across multiple locations. * A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle. * Flexibility to travel throughout Buckinghamshire and Berkshire.

Why Apply?

* Competitive daily pay of £120-£180. * Fuel allowance to support travel. * Long-term opportunity with the potential to secure a permanent position. * Ongoing training and professional development. * A varied role where no two days are the same.

If you're looking for a rewarding opportunity where you can combine mentoring, education, and pastoral support while working directly within the community, we'd love to hear from you.

Salary will be determined by the successful candidate's qualifications and relevant experience, and will be in accordance with the client's pay policy.
