Emergency Care Practitioner Band 7 - (12 Month Fixed Term) An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Emergency Care Practitioner Band 7 for 12 month fixed term contract, youll be part of our valued team at our Chippenham Hospital Minor Injury Unit. This role includes staff management in the Minor Injuries Unit when needed. Skills in advanced practice and non-medical prescribing are required. The ideal candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary team delivering care within the BSW region. Involvement with partner organizations like the Royal United Hospital Bath is emphasized. The position requires working in a dynamic environment, with responsibilities in both minor injuries and illness support for local communities. The role is practitioner-led, focusing on facilitating timely discharges, reducing emergency department visits, and coordinating specialist interventions. As a Clinician with professional registration and advanced practice skills, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team made up of Nurses, Paramedics and support staff.You will deliver a service of both minor injury and illness support to the local community, working in collaboration with partner organisations including the Royal United Hospital Bath (RUH), other specialist units across the BSW region and HCRG Care Group internal services. Location: Chippenham Hospital Minor Injury unit but maybe required to work in MIU across BSW at times Hours: 8am 8.30pm 7 days a week Please note: this if for a 12 month fixed term contract to cover maternity leave. Main Responsibilities The Emergency Care Practitioner Band 7 carries out autonomous responsibility for the assessment, examination, documentation, prescription, implementation and evaluation of evidence-based care and the appropriate discharge of patients attending the MIU. The ECP also has responsibility for the safe staffing and management of the Minor Injuries Unit in the absence of the clinical lead. The successful band 7 nurse/paramedic would have completed APiCA and Non medical prescribing and would process advanced triage/assessment skills and knowledge in minor injury and illness within professional scope of practice. You will be working as part of a practitioner led team and across the primary and secondary care interfaces in BSW.You will be responsible for co-ordinating the provision of specialist interventions to meet the urgent health care needs of people who would have traditionally been seen in ED, or those requiring facilitated timely discharge from emergency departments or primary care.
