Tax Accountant (Semi Senior / Senior)

Salary: Competitive + Excellent Benefits

Location: Northallerton

An established and growing accountancy practice is looking to recruit a Tax Accountant to join its expanding tax team. Applications are welcomed from both Semi Senior and Senior level candidates, with responsibilities and progression tailored to your experience.

This is an excellent opportunity for a tax professional looking to broaden their technical knowledge while working with a varied portfolio of individuals, owner-managed businesses and corporate clients. The Role

  • Manage a portfolio of clients, delivering personal and corporate tax compliance services.
  • Prepare tax returns for individuals, companies, partnerships and trusts.
  • Assist clients with a variety of tax-related queries, providing practical and professional advice.
  • Support tax planning activities, including work relating to directors and owner-managed businesses.
  • Review client records and ensure all compliance work is completed accurately and within deadlines.
  • Liaise directly with clients, building strong relationships and providing an excellent level of service.
  • Work closely with colleagues across the practice to deliver efficient and effective client solutions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve internal processes and contribute to the ongoing development of the tax function.
  • Keep up to date with changes in tax legislation and maintain high technical standards.
  • Additional Responsibilities (Senior Level)
  • Review the work of junior team members and provide constructive feedback.
  • Mentor and support less experienced colleagues as they develop their careers.
  • Take greater ownership of client relationships and oversee day-to-day portfolio management.
  • Assist with workflow planning and contribute to the continued growth and success of the department.

About You

  • ATT qualified, part-qualified or currently studying towards a recognised tax qualification. Candidates working towards CTA will also be considered.
  • Previous experience working within an accountancy practice in a personal and/or corporate tax role.
  • Confident preparing tax returns and managing client relationships.
  • Strong understanding of UK tax compliance.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a varied workload.
  • A professional communicator with a client-focused approach.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering accurate, high-quality work.
  • A collaborative team player who enjoys sharing knowledge and supporting colleagues.
