The Role

As Technical Leader, you'll oversee a multidisciplinary technical team covering planning, land surveying, environmental monitoring and GIS.

Rather than being responsible for delivering every technical detail yourself, you'll focus on leading the people who do.

You'll help managers prioritise workloads, ensure projects are resourced effectively and provide support when technical or commercial challenges arise. You'll coach and develop technical professionals, helping them progress their careers while creating a collaborative, high-performing culture across the department.

Working closely with senior leadership, you'll also play an important role in the commercial success of the business. From strengthening relationships with existing clients and identifying opportunities for additional work, to supporting tenders and improving internal processes, you'll help drive the continued growth of the technical function.

This is a varied leadership role where no two days are the same. One day you could be reviewing resources across multiple live projects, the next meeting with a key client to discuss future opportunities, before spending the afternoon mentoring one of your managers or helping shape the department's long-term strategy.

Ideal Candidate

We're looking for an experienced technical professional who enjoys developing people just as much as delivering technical excellence.

You'll ideally have:
· Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in a relevant technical discipline
· Experience within environmental consultancy, planning, land surveying, engineering surveying, GIS or environmental monitoring
· Previous experience leading projects, mentoring colleagues or managing technical teams
· Strong commercial awareness with experience building client relationships and supporting business growth
· Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
· A collaborative leadership style with a genuine passion for developing people
