Are you an enthusiastic Teacher with a heart for SEN, or looking to take your first step into the sector?

Join our incredible SEN school and help transform the lives of learners with ALN every day.

About the School-

We are proud to be working with an exceptional SEN school in the Ebbw Vale, a true pioneer in specialist education. The school offers a highly supportive, multi‑disciplinary environment where pupils’ individual needs are at the heart of everything they do.

Learners benefit from a wide range of therapeutic and developmental provisions, including physiotherapy, rebound therapy, hydrotherapy and a rich variety of sensory-based activities. The school also makes excellent use of ICT to support communication, engagement and independence in the classroom.

Catering for pupils aged 3–19 years old, the school provides continuity, care and nurture throughout each stage of a child’s educational journey. Their mission is to equip every learner with the skills and confidence they need to thrive both in school and in their transition into adulthood. A strong focus on independent living skills ensures pupils are well-prepared for life beyond the classroom.

About the Role-

  • Deliver engaging, tailored lessons that meet the diverse needs of learners with ALN.
  • Create a supportive, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment where pupils feel safe, valued and motivated.
  • Work closely with a multi‑disciplinary team including therapists, support staff and specialist practitioners.
  • Incorporate sensory activities, communication strategies and therapeutic approaches into daily teaching.
  • Support pupils in developing key life skills, independence and confidence both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Monitor progress, assess individual needs and adapt teaching methods to ensure every learner thrives.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues to promote consistent support and development.
  • Contribute to school-wide initiatives that enhance the learning experience for all students.

Requirements-

  • Experience working within a Hearing-Impaired service or a strong willingness to learn.
  • Ability to use Makaton (or a commitment to undertake training) is preferred but not essential.
  • Enhanced Child & Adult DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • SEN experience or a genuine interest in developing a career within the SEN/ALN sector.
