Commercial Property Solicitor | Real Estate | Development & Agriculture
York | Hybrid Working | Associate / Senior Associate | £50,000–£70,000 DOE

The most interesting work isn't coming from high street transactions or volume property teams. It's coming from ambitious businesses, developers, landowners and the sectors shaping the future of the region.

QED Legal's client is investing heavily in exactly that.

As part of a long-term growth strategy, they're looking to appoint an experienced Commercial Property Solicitor to help expand their York office. This isn't a replacement hire—it's a genuine growth opportunity within a well-established firm that's continuing to invest in its people, technology and specialist legal services.

The team acts for a broad portfolio of owner-managed businesses, agricultural enterprises, developers, investors and renewable energy clients, advising on complex, commercially focused transactions rather than routine volume work. If you're looking for greater variety, stronger client relationships and the opportunity to influence a growing office, this role is well worth exploring.
You'll advise on a broad range of Commercial Property and Real Estate matters, including:
  • Commercial property acquisitions and disposals.
  • Freehold and leasehold transactions.
  • Commercial landlord and tenant matters.
  • Development land acquisitions and disposals.
  • Agricultural property transactions.
  • Renewable energy projects and land agreements.
  • Property finance and secured lending.
  • Supporting corporate and commercial transactions involving property assets.
  • Building long-term relationships with clients, agents and professional referrers.
To be considered, you'll ideally have:
  • Qualified Solicitor with around 4+ years PQE (although strong candidates outside this range will be considered).
  • Experience handling a broad Commercial Property or Real Estate caseload with minimal supervision.
  • Exposure to development work, commercial leasing, agricultural property or renewable energy matters would be advantageous.
  • Strong technical drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to provide practical, business-focused advice.
  • A genuine interest in developing client relationships and contributing to the continued growth of the department.
  • An existing client following would be welcomed but is by no means essential.
This opportunity would suit a Commercial Property Solicitor, Real Estate Solicitor, Commercial Property Associate, Senior Associate or Property Lawyer looking to step into a team where collaboration is genuinely valued over internal competition.

The firm has ambitious plans for continued expansion and is investing accordingly. Alongside significant investment in legal technology and AI, there is a strong culture of learning, cross-office collaboration and partner accessibility. Team performance is rewarded collectively, creating an environment where colleagues actively support one another rather than compete for work.

Hybrid working is well established, with a minimum expectation of two days per week in the office, together with dedicated administrative support, private medical insurance, life assurance, team-based bonuses and genuine long-term progression as the business continues to grow.

Salary: £50,000–£70,000 DOE plus bonus, hybrid working and an excellent benefits package.
