Job description
Job summary
This exciting Clinical Fellowship in Lung Cancer and Bronchoscopy offers a unique opportunity to gain advanced experience within one of the UK's leading tertiary respiratory and lung cancer centres. Based at UCLH, the successful candidate will work alongside nationally and internationally recognised experts in lung cancer, EBUS, interventional bronchoscopy and robotic bronchoscopy, developing skills across the entire diagnostic pathway.

The fellowship provides exposure to a high-volume service performing over 1,000 bronchoscopic procedures annually, including advanced diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and one of the UK's most established robotic bronchoscopy programmes. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will gain hands-on experience in lung cancer diagnosis, pulmonary nodule assessment, bronchoscopy, EBUS and emerging diagnostic technologies, while contributing to high-quality patient-centred care.

This post is ideal for a motivated senior Respiratory trainee seeking focused experience in lung cancer and advanced bronchoscopy. Opportunities exist to participate in service development, quality improvement and clinical research, making this an outstanding platform for those considering a future career in lung cancer, interventional pulmonology or academic respiratory medicine.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will support the delivery of a high-volume lung cancer diagnostic service, contributing to the assessment and management of patients with suspected or confirmed thoracic malignancy. Clinical activity will include participation in lung cancer and pulmonary nodule clinics, multidisciplinary team meetings, bronchoscopy and EBUS lists, and exposure to advanced diagnostic technologies including robotic bronchoscopy. The post holder will be expected to run sessions independently with minimal consultant support or be close to being able to run independently with a short period of training.

Working closely with consultants, specialist nurses, radiologists, pathologists and research teams, the successful candidate will help ensure timely diagnosis and high-quality patient care. The role also includes involvement in audit, governance, quality improvement and teaching activities, with opportunities to support clinical research and trial recruitment. Candidates should demonstrate excellent communication skills, strong clinical judgement, enthusiasm for learning, and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary environment.
