Devon Partnership NHS Trust
Team Manager

Job summary
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Team Manager to provide effective operational leadership across Devon Community Forensic Services, including the Specialist Community Forensic Team, Forensic Personality Disorder Service and Forensic Intellectual and Neurodevelopmental Disorder Team. Working closely with the LDU Service Manager and senior clinical colleagues, you will support safe, high-quality, evidence-based care for people with complex forensic mental health needs.

This is a varied and influential role, combining line management, service development, resource management and complex clinical support. You will help ensure services are responsive, well-governed and focused on supporting recovery, reducing unnecessary out-of-area placements, enabling timely discharge from secure care and promoting successful reintegration into the community.

The post requires strong leadership, communication and change management skills, alongside the ability to work collaboratively with health, social care, criminal justice, housing, voluntary sector and regional forensic partners.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will support the operational management and continued development of Community Forensic Services, deputising for the LDU Service Manager when required.

Key duties include providing professional leadership and line management to staff; overseeing supervision, appraisal, recruitment, retention, training and safe staffing; managing resources within agreed budgets; and monitoring service performance, quality, governance, safeguarding, complaints, incidents, audits and key performance indicators.

You will contribute to service design, improvement and implementation, ensuring compliance with commissioning standards, CQC requirements, Trust policy and relevant legal frameworks. The role includes supporting complex clinical decision-making, risk management, care pathway development, assessment and caseload oversight, while promoting partnership working to reduce social exclusion and improve community reintegration.

You will chair and attend clinical, governance and team meetings, communicate complex and sensitive information effectively, support staff and student development, maintain high standards of record keeping, and build strong relationships with internal teams, regional forensic services, commissioners and external agencies.
