Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Research Nurse to join the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Agile Research Delivery Team (ARDT) based in Fulbourn, part of the East of England Regional Research Delivery Network (RRDN).

You will work in Primary Care and in other settings such as Care Homes, Schools and Hospices as required to support and champion research across the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough region.

You will be managing a wide-ranging portfolio of research studies, recruiting participants, receiving informed consent, conducting study procedures and collecting baseline and follow up data in accordance with ICH GCP. You will work from the office and/or home with regular travel across the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough area. Travel throughout the East of England may be required at times.

You must be an experienced Registered Nurse with excellent organisational and communication skills.

Main duties of the job
Supporting and promoting involvement in commercial and non-commercial research studies on the NIHR portfolio taking place in Primary Care and other non NHS settings for the East of England Regional Research Delivery Network (RRDN).

Key responsibilities include identification of eligible persons, provision of information, informed consent and ongoing support for participants. Coordination and carrying out study assessments, treatment and follow up, collecting data according to specific clinical trial protocols, ICH Good Clinical Practice, and other relevant legislation.

The post holder will be a member of the Agile Research Delivery Team (ARDT) based in the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough area. They will work collaboratively with the team and with staff in study locations throughout Cambridgeshire. This post requires the ability for regular independent travel within the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough area and outside the region as required.

Qualifications
Essential
  • NMC Registered nurse, Midwife or AHP
  • Educated to degree level in science or health related discipline or in another field with experience of research trials or equivalent relevant experience/training and educated or working towards postgraduate degree level.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.

Desirable
  • Has completed or is undertaking a course in management / leadership

Experience
Essential
  • Experience of the care of patients/participants enrolled in research studies.
  • Leadership management experience in a health care setting

Knowledge
Essential
  • Knowledge of the governance and legislative framework for conducting clinical research studies, including UK Policy Framework for Health and Care Research, UK Clinical Trials Regulations
  • Knowledge of the clinical trial and health and care research lifecycle including experience of the setup of clinical research studies in a health and care setting
  • Knowledge and experience of data interpretation, verification and reporting to local and national centres.

Skills

  • Good IT skills, particularly in the use of Web applications, MS Office and/or Google Hub applications.
