Senior Health Safety and Environmental (HS&E) Advisor

Location: Cheltenham Gloucestershire

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior HS&E Advisor to join the team on a brand new major project in Cheltenham for Galliford Trys Infrastructure division. You will work closely with senior management the client and other stakeholders in order to drive a high performing HS&E culture.

You will be responsible primarily to undertake assurance and monitor compliance against the business management system with regards to HSE and client expectations. Provide timely and competent advice to project teams on all matters of Health Safety and Environmental on a day to day basis mainly due to the scheme size and complexity of risk.

Key Responsibilities

You will work within a project team to support the delivery of our knowingly safe and well strategy:

  • Report to the HS&E Framework Manager and provide support to embedded HS&E Advisors.
  • Undertake assurance and monitor compliance on a day-to-day basis focusing on the schemes complexity and risk.
  • Chair the RDP East Centre of Excellence meeting and attend key monthly meetings (Commitments group HS&E Committee contract reviews SLT meetings).
  • Engage with all stakeholders using a hands-on approach and provide competent advice to project teams.
  • Conduct monthly SSERs for performance monitoring and support incident investigations to identify root causes.
  • Assist in developing and implementing key improvement plans and monitor site compliance with HSE requirements.
  • Promote a strong HSE culture in line with Galliford Trys Challenging Beliefs and Affecting Behaviours programme.
  • Drive workforce engagement identify trends through inspections and support training safety alerts and D&A testing

About You

We are looking for an enthusiastic IT literate individual and encourage candidates with all levels of background experience to apply and bring their perspectives to the role.

  • Previous experience in health and safety or construction environments with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong IT skills (PowerApps PowerBI Excel MS Office) and experience with digital software.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships work effectively in teams and manage time efficiently.
  • Focused on delivering results and integrating transforming and visualizing data from various sources.
  • Interest in upskilling and staying current with industry changes and technological advancements.
