We are recruiting a Mechanical Assembly Technician to join our specialist manufacturing team in Lower Dicker.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a high-technology environment, assembling precision Ultra-High Vacuum (UHV) manipulation and sample-handling systems used in advanced scientific and industrial applications.
In addition to this, as our Mechanical Assembly Technician you will be responsible for:
Build complex UHV manipulation and sample-handling sub-assemblies
Carry out specialist UHV-compatible wiring and electrical testing
Maintain strict UHV clean standards for all in-vacuum components
Support the transition of new hardware from New Product Introduction (NPI) into routine production
Create, review, and update manufacturing instructions, guides, and documentation
Maintain detailed departmental records, including test data, quality control information, and serial numbering
Participate in planned travel to client sites for meetings, site visits, or events as required
As part of your normal duties you may be required to travel to and work at client premises or other locations as reasonably necessary for the proper performance of your duties.
While your normal place of work will be Lower Dicker, you agree to undertake such travel as is reasonably required by the Company. The Company will provide reasonable notice of such requirements and will reimburse authorised travel expenses.
In order to be successful in this role you should have:
Familiarity with the production of UHV compatible devices & instrumentation that utilises electron optics & ion optics principals would be advantageous.
Previous experience in a low volume customised product manufacturing environment is preferred.
Ideally yielding a broad understanding and appreciation of precision hand fitting techniques, specialist wiring and product test procedures.
Resilience under pressure, able to adhere to the predetermined timescales and deadlines.
Basic IT skills, including MS Office
Mechanical engineering Level 3
Previous experience in a high technology manufacturing environment or clean room.
