Make a Difference Where It Matters Most

Teaching Personnel are seeking a dedicated and experienced Behaviour Support Worker to join a specialist secondary SEMH school in Salford from September. This provision supports young people aged 11-16 with a range of Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, including anxiety, ADHD, autism, trauma-related behaviours, attachment difficulties, emotional regulation challenges, low self-esteem, and behavioural needs that can impact learning within a mainstream environment.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting vulnerable young people, building positive relationships, and helping students develop the confidence, resilience and skills they need to succeed both in and out of the classroom.

The Role

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group behavioural and emotional support
  • Building trusting relationships with students who may have experienced significant challenges in education
  • Supporting pupils to regulate emotions and develop positive coping strategies
  • Managing and de-escalating challenging behaviours using a calm and proactive approach
  • Acting as a positive role model and mentor for students
  • Promoting independence, confidence and personal development
  • Contributing to behaviour support plans and monitoring student progress
  • Supporting educational visits and community-based learning activities where required

Essential Requirements

✅ Previous experience working with young people with SEMH needs
✅ Full UK driving licence
✅ Access to your own vehicle
✅ Ability to work full-time from September
✅ Right to work in the UK
✅ Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
