Job description

Are you a technically skilled, creative production specialist looking to support high-calibre school performances, lighting rigs, and sound design within a premier secondary school?   • Full-time role (Term-Time Only + 2 Weeks) | September start

Our client is seeking an organised, passionate, and safety-conscious Lead Drama & Creative Arts Technician to join their flourishing expressive arts department from September. This is a full-time position, ideal for a theatre production graduate, experienced stage manager, or AV technician looking for a stable and highly rewarding educational post.

The successful candidate will manage the day-to-day technical operations across the school’s drama studios and main performance auditorium. Key duties include setting up lighting and sound rigs for daily Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5 (A-Level) drama assessment pieces, managing stage props and costume inventories, overseeing PAT testing for stage equipment, and directing live technical controls (lighting boards, PA systems, and projection) during large-scale whole-school productions, musical showcases, and open evenings.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Degree or formal qualification in Technical Theatre, Stage Management, Sound Engineering, or relevant industry experience

  • Strong practical competency operating digital lighting desks, sound mixing boards, and AV projection software

  • Clear understanding of theatre health and safety parameters, risk assessments, manual handling, and safe rigging standards

  • Excellent communication skills, with a collaborative approach when working alongside teaching staff, student production crews, and visiting external artists
