Job description
Job Duties:
  • Provide support to students with autism in a special needs secondary school setting
  • Assist in teaching life skills and promoting independence
  • Manage behaviours that challenge in a calm and professional manner
  • Work with non-verbal students to facilitate communication

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience working with individuals with autism
  • Understanding of secondary education curriculum
  • Ability to handle and de-escalate challenging behaviours

Experience:

Prior experience working in a similar role within an educational setting

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of autism spectrum disorders and interventions
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a team

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Additional training in autism support or related field
  • Experience working with non-verbal individuals

Working Conditions:

This role involves working in a school environment with students with autism. The position may require some flexibility in working hours to accommodate school schedules.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
