Job description
SEND Teaching Assistants required for September 2026

SEND, SEMH, ASD & PMLD Roles Across Your Local Area

Some children just need the right person beside them.

We're looking for caring, proactive and enthusiastic people to join our team and support pupils in SEND schools from September 2026.

Whether you're an experienced TA, looking for your first role in education, or thinking about a future career in teaching, we'd love to hear from you.

You don't have to come from a traditional education background either. Creative graduates from art, drama, dance, music, theatre and the performing arts can make fantastic SEN TAs too. If you're confident, adaptable, creative and good at building relationships, your skills could be exactly what a child needs.

We'd also love to hear from people with backgrounds in youth work, care, coaching, mentoring, support work or mental health.

Your role could include:

• Supporting pupils one-to-one or in small groups
• Helping children build confidence, independence and communication skills
• Supporting pupils with SEND, SEMH, ASD and PMLD
• Helping pupils regulate emotions and engage in learning
• Building positive relationships with pupils and school staff
• Working alongside teachers and specialist SEND teams

We're looking for people who are:

• Patient, kind and resilient
• Proactive and ready to get stuck in
• Calm under pressure and adaptable
• Creative thinkers who can try different approaches
• Great at building relationships
• Keen to develop a career in education
• Available to start in September 2026

Why join Protocol Education?

• Weekly PAYE pay, no umbrella companies
• FREE CPD and training, including Thrive training
• A dedicated consultant who gets to know you
• Opportunities across SEND, mainstream and specialist settings
• Flexible, short-term, long-term and permanent roles
• Valuable experience if you're considering a future career in teaching

Already Thrive trained? Brilliant, let us know when you apply.

Not Thrive trained yet? No problem. We offer FREE Thrive training to help you build valuable skills and stand out when applying for SEND roles.

Ready to try something new this September? Apply now and let's get you ready for your next step in education.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQs on the Protocol Education website for further details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.

Protocol Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with the DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’, this may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants.
We offer FREE online safeguarding and Prevent Duty training to all our workers. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and subscribe to the DBS Update Service.

Full assistance provided. For details of our privacy policy, please see visit the Protocol Education website.
