Albans, London Aldgate, Manchester or CroydonContract Type: 12-month contractSummaryOur client is seeking a Principal Fire Protection Engineer specialising in Fire Fighting Systems design to join their established fire safety consultancy.
This consultancy-based role requires experience in designing, calculating, and proposing fire safety solutions for a variety of projects, ranging from small to large scale.
You will act as a key technical expert and point of contact for clients, delivering design packages across various RIBA stages, including drawings, technical specifications, reports, and hydraulic calculations.
The role involves preparing fire suppression system solutions for diverse building and industrial applications, performing system calculations, leading remote project delivery teams, and managing projects from inception to completion.
You will also conduct technical reviews, assist in resolving design issues, and liaise effectively with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
This position is ideal for an established consultant seeking career progression or a knowledgeable professional aiming to join a respected fire safety consultancy.SkillsExtensive experience in fire fighting systems design within a consultancy environmentStrong knowledge of British and International design standards and Building RegulationsExpertise in Fire Suppression Systems including Automatic Sprinkler Systems (Wet, Dry, Pre-action, Foam), Water Mist Systems, Gaseous Suppression Systems, Wet and Dry Riser Systems, Fire Hydrant and Hose Reel Systems, Hypoxic (Oxygen Reduction) SystemsAbility to prepare design packages for various RIBA stages (1-7) including drawings, specifications, reports, and hydraulic calculationsProficient in performing hydraulic and system calculations (sprinkler water supplies, gas suppression agent quantities)Experience in project management and leading remote project delivery teamsStrong client-facing and communication skillsAbility to conduct site surveys, inspections, xwwtmva and technical problem resolutionCompetent in preparing fee proposals and conducting technical reviewsIntermediate-level written and oral communication skills with strong quantitative and analytical abilitiesSoftware/ToolsMicrosoft Word and ExcelCAD software (AutoCAD, Revit)Hydraulic calculation software for fire suppression systemsCertifications & StandardsRelevant degree or professional qualification (BEng, MEng, PhD)Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status or working towards itClear work history demonstrating continuous professional developmentKnowledge of relevant British and International fire safety standards and building regulationsPlease send CVs to:
