As part of our continued growth, we are recruiting for a newly created role of Private Client Solicitor Wills & Probate.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced solicitor to play a key role in developing our expanding Private Client department.

Working with a high degree of autonomy and under minimal supervision, you will manage your own caseload while handling a high volume of cross-referrals generated by our busy Conveyancing Department.

You'll work closely with colleagues across the firm to deliver an exceptional client experience and help maximise opportunities to support clients with their wider legal needs.

If you're looking to join a modern, ambitious firm that combines high-quality legal work with genuine career progression and a supportive team culture, we'd love to hear from you.

The Role You will manage a varied caseload of private client matters, including wills, lasting powers of attorney, probate and estate administration, from initial instruction through to completion.

This role is ideally suited to an experienced solicitor who is confident managing their own caseload with minimal supervision, while delivering exceptional client care and technical excellence.

A significant proportion of your work will come from a high volume of cross-referrals generated by our busy Conveyancing Department, requiring you to build strong internal relationships, identify client needs and provide seamless, proactive legal advice.

As this is a newly created role, you will also have the opportunity to help shape the growth and development of the department, contributing to processes, best practices and the continued expansion of our Private Client offering.

Key Responsibilities Managing a varied caseload of private client matters from initial instruction through to completion, including wills, lasting powers of attorney, probate applications, estate administration, intestacy matters and related advisory work.

Taking ownership of client matters with minimal supervision, providing high-quality legal advice and ensuring files are progressed efficiently, proactively and in accordance with client expectations.

Advising clients on succession planning, inheritance matters, estate distribution and options available to protect their assets and provide for future generations.

Drafting, reviewing and preparing wills, lasting powers of attorney, estate administration documents and other private client documentation with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

Managing probate and estate administration matters, including obtaining grants of probate, gathering estate assets, identifying liabilities, preparing estate accounts and distributing estates to beneficiaries.

Liaising with clients, beneficiaries, financial institutions, executors, HMRC, professional advisers and other stakeholders to ensure matters progress smoothly and efficiently.

Identifying legal, tax and procedural issues within private client matters, providing practical solutions and escalating complex issues where appropriate.

Working closely with colleagues across the firm, particularly the Conveyancing Department, to manage a high volume of cross-referrals and provide a seamless service to clients requiring additional legal support.

Ensuring all matters are conducted in accordance with regulatory obligations, including AML, GDPR, SRA Standards and Regulations, and the firm's risk management procedures.

Maintaining accurate file records, completing attendance notes and updating the firm's case management system to ensure compliance, transparency and effective case progression.

Taking a proactive approach to client relationships, identifying opportunities to provide further support and contributing to the continued growth and development of the Private Client department.

Delivering an exceptional standard of client care by managing expectations, providing clear and practical advice, and building trusted long-term relationships with clients and their families.

About You We're looking for someone who: Has solid private client experience, ideally with 2 years of managing their own caseload of wills, probate, estate administration, lasting powers of attorney and related matters.

Is confident working independently with minimal supervision, taking ownership of client files and delivering high-quality legal advice.

Has strong technical knowledge and the ability to handle a varied caseload.

Demonstrates excellent client care skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships with clients and their families during often sensitive and important life events.

Is commercially aware and able to identify opportunities to support clients with additional legal requirements, particularly through internal cross-referrals from the Conveyancing Department.

Is organised, proactive and able to manage competing priorities effectively while maintaining high standards of accuracy and compliance.
