Job descriptionA thriving secondary school in Manchester is looking to appoint a dedicated Facilities Officer to join its premises team on a full-time, permanent basis with an ASAP start. Working as part of a supportive team, you'll help ensure the school provides a safe, secure, and well-maintained environment for pupils, staff, and visitors. The Role Reporting to the Site Manager, you'll support the day-to-day operation of the school site, helping to ensure the buildings and grounds remain safe, compliant, and presented to a high standard. Your responsibilities will include: Assisting with the opening and closing of the school site Carrying out routine maintenance and minor repairs Completing regular site inspections and reporting maintenance issues Supporting Health & Safety, fire safety, asbestos, and legionella compliance procedures Assisting with the supervision of contractors working on site Preparing classrooms, halls, and outdoor spaces for school events and activities Helping maintain the cleanliness, security, and appearance of the school grounds Supporting planned maintenance projects throughout the year About the School This successful secondary school serves students aged 11–16 and is recognised for its welcoming atmosphere, supportive leadership team, and commitment to providing an excellent learning environment. The premises team plays an important role in the daily running of the school, ensuring students and staff benefit from safe and well-maintained facilities. The successful candidate will be reliable, organised, and able to work both independently and as part of a team. You'll have good practical maintenance skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and an understanding of Health & Safety responsibilities within a busy working environment.
