Job description
Behaviour Mentor – Secondary School in Bolton Milk Education is currently recruiting a confident, resilient and compassionate Behaviour Mentor to work within a welcoming and inclusive Secondary School in Bolton. This opportunity is available from September and is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. In this rewarding role, you’ll work closely with students who require additional behavioural, emotional or pastoral support, helping to create a positive, safe and inclusive learning environment where every student can succeed. Your Role As a Behaviour Mentor, you will: * Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with behavioural, social and emotional needs * Build positive, trusting relationships with students to encourage engagement, confidence and personal development * Support students in managing their behaviour in line with the school’s behaviour policy * Work alongside teaching staff to implement behaviour support strategies and interventions * Promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing and resilience both inside and outside the classroom * Help students overcome barriers to learning and improve attendance, engagement and participation * Monitor student progress, record behaviour incidents and provide regular feedback to relevant staff * Liaise with parents, carers and external agencies where appropriate to support student outcomes * Support the wider school community throughout the school day, including breaktimes and transition periods * Promote safeguarding, wellbeing and positive relationships at all times We’re Looking For Someone Who: * Has previous experience working as a Behaviour Mentor, Teaching Assistant, Youth Worker or in a similar pastoral support role within a secondary school or educational setting * Has experience supporting young people with behavioural, emotional or social needs * Is confident managing challenging behaviour using positive behaviour management strategies * Can build strong, positive relationships with students, staff, parents and the wider school community * Has excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills * Is patient, resilient, proactive and able to remain calm under pressure * Has a genuine passion for supporting young people and helping them achieve their potential * Has an understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures, or is willing to complete relevant training * Holds a degree or relevant qualification (desirable but not essential) What’s in It for You? * Competitive daily rates of pay * A rewarding role within a supportive and inclusive secondary school * Access to ongoing CPD and training through Milk Academy * Dedicated consultant support throughout your placement * Valuable experience for those considering a career in education, youth work, pastoral support or teaching * Wellbeing resources and community support initiatives This role is paid within the advertised pay scale.
