Job description
Help young people build gloriously ordinary lives. Do you believe that the best learning doesnt always happen in a classroom? Are you an experienced teacher with SEN expertise who wants to lead a team, think creatively, and support young people to develop the skills, confidence and independence they need for adult life? If so, wed love to hear from you. At MacIntyre, we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to live a gloriously ordinary life—one filled with choice, purpose, relationships and opportunities that matter to them. Our bespoke education packages are designed around each young person, not around a building or a timetable. We support autistic young people and those with learning disabilities and/or social, emotional and mental health needs through highly personalised education. Learning takes place where it makes the most sense for the individual—at home, in local communities, in colleges, workplaces and wherever meaningful opportunities can be found. About the role Based across North Warwickshire and Leicestershire, youll lead a passionate team delivering creative, person-centred education that prepares young people for life beyond school. Every learner has their own strengths, interests, dreams and aspirations. Your role is to ensure these remain at the heart of everything we do. Working alongside Community Teaching Assistants, families and professionals, youll design meaningful learning programmes that build on each learners EHCP outcomes while creating opportunities to develop confidence, communication, independence, relationships and community connections. Whether learning happens in a café, on public transport, volunteering, shopping independently or exploring a new interest, youll help ensure every experience has purpose and meaning. Youll lead and inspire a team of Community Teaching Assistants by: * Coaching and mentoring colleagues to deliver outstanding person-centred education. * Providing training, guidance and regular feedback. * Observing practice and supporting continuous improvement. * Monitoring progress and ensuring learning is well planned, evidenced and celebrated. Youll also spend one day each week (or equivalent) working directly with learners. This gives you the opportunity to stay connected to practice, model creative approaches and continue developing your own teaching expertise. What youll find here This isnt a role where youll spend every day behind a desk or standing at the front of a classroom. Its an opportunity to lead a team thats transforming education by making it relevant, meaningful and rooted in everyday life. Youll see first-hand the difference that personalised learning can make as young people develop skills, discover interests, build relationships and grow in confidence as they prepare for adulthood. If youre ready to lead with creativity, compassion and purpose, wed love to hear from you. Contract * Full-time (52 weeks per year) * 38 hours per week * Based across North Warwickshire and Leicestershire * Start Date 5th January 2027 #IND About you Were looking for someone who shares our belief that education should open doors to ordinary, meaningful lives. Youll have: * Qualified Teacher Status or be working towards a Level 5 teaching qualification or PGCE. * Experience supporting autistic young people and/or young people with learning disabilities, or social, emotional and mental health needs. * Experience leading, coaching or managing others. * Creativity, curiosity and the confidence to think differently about learning. * Excellent organisational and communication skills. * A commitment to person-centred practice and high-quality outcomes. * A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle, as travel across North Warwickshire and Leicestershire is an essential part of the role. About us MacIntyre is a national charity supporting more than 1,400 children, young people and adults who have a learning disability or are autistic. For 60 years, weve worked alongside people to build lives filled with opportunity, connection and belonging. Whatever your role, youll help make that possible. Pay and benefits Alongside your salary, youll enjoy a range of benefits including: * 6 weeks annual leave per year including public holidays * Pension scheme * Paid DBS check * Health and wellbeing support, including an Employee Assistance Programme * Shopping discounts through Blue Light Card and our staff discounts scheme * Ongoing training and career development See the full range of benefits on the Careers page of our website.
