Job description
HR Officer – Outstanding Secondary School – Chester Start Date: As soon as possible Contract: Full-time, Permanent Salary: Paid to scale School Information This Outstanding 11–18 secondary school in Chesterfield is known for its high academic standards, strong leadership, and structured operational systems. The school serves a diverse and ambitious community and maintains excellent behaviour and professional standards across all departments. Leadership places strong emphasis on staff wellbeing, compliance, and effective HR systems. Clear recruitment procedures, performance management frameworks, and safeguarding processes are embedded within school practice. Due to internal development and expansion of administrative services, the school is seeking a highly organised and professional HR Officer. Role Overview The HR Officer will manage day-to-day HR operations and ensure compliance with employment and safeguarding regulations. Key responsibilities include: Coordinating recruitment and safer recruitment checks Maintaining personnel records and HR databases Managing staff contracts and documentation Supporting onboarding and induction processes Monitoring staff absence and leave Supporting payroll administration Advising staff on HR policies Assisting with performance management processes Ensuring compliance with safeguarding requirements Liaising with external HR advisors This role requires discretion, accuracy, and strong organisational capability. HR & Operations Team The HR Officer works closely with the School Business Manager and Finance team within a structured operational framework. Candidate Requirements Experience in HR administration Knowledge of employment legislation Understanding of safer recruitment procedures Strong organisational and record-keeping skills Excellent communication ability Ability to handle confidential information Commitment to safeguarding Application To apply, please send your CV as soon as possible.
