Job description

The Role An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Staff Nurse to join the ECMS Medical Specialities team within Ward 10 at the Royal Alexandra Hospital. This dynamic 30‑bed ward delivers specialist care across acute medicine, diabetes, endocrinology and haematology, offering a varied and rewarding clinical environment. Working within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, you will be part of one of the largest NHS organisations in the UK, committed to delivering safe, effective and person‑centred care. Location: Royal Alexandra Hospital, Paisley. Shift Pattern: Rotational. Key Responsibilities * Assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care for a defined group of patients within a specialist area * Deliver safe, effective and person‑centred care while supporting patient flow from admission through to discharge * Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless and high‑quality patient care * Provide guidance, supervision and support to students and unregistered staff * Maintain accurate, clear and timely patient documentation in line with NMC standards * Participate in audit, quality improvement and the development of evidence‑based practice * Promote a positive ward culture and contribute to improving the patient experience in line with Excellence in Care principles Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job * Registered Nurse with a valid NMC UK pin * Educated to Diploma/Degree level in Adult Nursing or equivalent * Demonstrates strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills * Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment * Evidence of continuous professional development and a commitment to learning * Sound clinical decision‑making and problem‑solving skills with the ability to prioritise workload * Flexibility to work rotational shift patterns, including nights, and a willingness to adapt to service needs What We Offer * A minimum of 27 days annual leave, increasing with length of service, plus public holidays * Membership of the NHS Pension Scheme, including life insurance benefits * Salary Sacrifice Car Benefit Scheme * Development opportunities including study bursaries, e‑learning and classroom‑based courses * Enhanced pay for working public holidays * NHS discounts on a wide range of goods and services * Confidential employee support and assistance, including counselling and psychological therapies * Comprehensive Employee Assistance Programme, Cycle to Work Scheme, bursary scheme and extensive learning and development opportunities Equality, Diversity and Inclusion NHSGGC encourages applications from all sections of the community and is committed to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion.
