The Role To provide a high quality clinical psychology service to children, young people and their families within The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS), working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the Department’s policies and procedures. These fixed term posts will be based within either the CAMHS Care Experienced Team NHS Lanarkshire Wide or the CAMHS Paediatric Psychology Service at Coathill Hospital. This Includes * Provision of psychological and cognitive assessment * The delivery of psychological therapies within a systemic framework/model of intervention * Advice and consultation on clients’ psychological care to non-psychology colleagues and to other non-professional carers * Supervision of trainee clinical psychologists while on generic or specialist CAMHS placement * Teaching of clinical psychology trainees in agreement with Professional Lead for CAMHS and Doctoral/MSc training programmes * Teaching principles of psychological theory and therapy to non-psychology colleagues and to other non-professional carers * Provision of teaching and supervision to assistant psychologists and possibly other mental health clinicians * Supervision of trainee research projects where necessary * Application of research skills to guide and develop evidence based clinical practice, service development, service evaluation and clinical audit Please note this is a fixed term post for 12 months. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. The employee MUST already have written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post. In This Key Role, You Will To provide specialist psychological assessments of clients referred to the Tier 3 Multidisciplinary team based on the appropriate use, interpretation and incorporation of complex and conflicting data from a variety of sources including psychological and neuropsychological tests, semi structured interviews with clients, family members and other involved in the client’s care. Also using rating scales, self report measures and direct and indirect observations. To formulate and implement specialist plans for the psychological treatment and / or management of the client’s mental health difficulties and their impact on families. This is based on an appropriate theoretical framework of the client’s problems, involves consideration of highly complex factors such as historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual family or group and utilises techniques where there is evidence of effectiveness. Such formulations and plans are derived after consideration of a range of options and the implications for the young person and their family / carers. What You’ll Bring * A First Class Honours or Upper second Class degree in Psychology that provides eligibility for graduate basis for registration with British Psychological Society. * An accredited postgraduate Doctoral level training in Clinical Psychology to meet the requirements for eligibility to register as a Chartered Clinical Psychologist with the British Psychological Society and as a member of the Health and Care Professions Council. Once registered as a member of the HCPC, the post holder should maintain registration. These qualifications confer an advanced level of theoretical and practical knowledge of a range of theoretical models and working practices. * Significant post qualification experience of working with children and young people with psychological problems and their families. * Training in and experience of supervising doctoral Clinical Psychology trainees and trainee Clinical Associates in Applied Psychology. * Ongoing professional development activities as required to continue practising as a Clinical Psychologist, including clinical supervision and further specialist courses and training.
