Job description
A welcoming primary school in Leeds is looking to appoint a Caretaker to join the team from September 2026. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity for someone who enjoys practical work and takes pride in maintaining a safe, secure, and well-presented school environment. You'll become an important part of the school community, helping to ensure the site runs smoothly every day. The Role You'll be responsible for the day-to-day upkeep of the school site, working to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for pupils, staff, and visitors. Responsibilities include: Opening and locking the school site Carrying out general maintenance and minor repairs Completing routine health and safety checks Maintaining the school buildings and grounds Setting up rooms for meetings and school events Liaising with contractors when required Reporting maintenance issues and supporting site compliance About the School This inclusive primary school is committed to providing a positive learning environment where children can thrive. Staff work collaboratively to create a welcoming atmosphere, and the premises team is valued for the important role it plays in the day-to-day running of the school. The Successful Candidate The school is looking for a reliable and proactive individual with previous experience as a Caretaker, Site Assistant, Premises Assistant, Facilities Assistant, or Maintenance Operative. School experience is desirable but not essential for candidates with relevant maintenance or facilities experience. A practical approach, good problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently are essential. As part of the school's safer recruitment procedures, references from your current (or most recent) employer and a previous employer will be required before an interview can be arranged.
