Job description
Support Alumah’s mission by helping with social media, marketing and fundraising. Use your creativity to raise awareness, grow our reach and make a real difference for survivors of domestic abuse. What difference will you make? This role will have a direct and meaningful impact on Alumah’s ability to reach survivors of domestic abuse and the professionals who support them. By strengthening our social media, marketing and fundraising activity, you will help us raise awareness, promote our programmes, and ensure that people who need our services know where to find us. Your support with social media will help us communicate clearly and compassionately about healthy relationships, trauma recovery and the support available through Alumah. Consistent, thoughtful content increases our visibility, builds trust with our community, and helps survivors feel confident in reaching out for help. By assisting with marketing, you will help us share information about our accredited programmes, group work and training opportunities. This ensures that schools, professionals, partner organisations and families understand what we offer and how to access it. Effective marketing directly increases the number of people who benefit from our services. If you are able to support fundraising, your contribution will help us secure the resources needed to deliver life‑changing work. Even small fundraising initiatives can make a significant difference, enabling us to expand our reach, strengthen our infrastructure and respond to rising demand. Overall, your involvement will help Alumah grow, connect with more people, and continue providing trauma‑informed support to children, young people and adults affected by domestic abuse. Your skills will translate into real‑world impact more survivors accessing safety, more families receiving support, and more professionals equipped to respond effectively. What are we looking for? We are looking for a volunteer who is compassionate, reliable and comfortable communicating in a sensitive, trauma‑aware way. The ideal person will have skills or interest in social media, marketing or fundraising, and be confident working collaboratively with our CEO to shape content and promote our programmes. Because Alumah supports communities across West Suffolk, it is helpful if volunteers live locally or within travelling distance. An awareness of the rural context of domestic abuse—such as isolation, limited transport, and reduced access to services—will strengthen your understanding of the people we support. While much of the role can be done remotely, we would appreciate someone who is willing to meet in person occasionally to plan content, discuss ideas and stay connected with the team. Creativity, good communication skills and a non‑judgmental approach are essential. You do not need specialist knowledge of domestic abuse; just a willingness to learn and to communicate with care. Hybrid Hybrid: The role is primarily remote but requires occasional in‑person meetings for planning and collaboration. What will you be doing? We are looking for a volunteer who can support Alumah’s communications, outreach and growth by helping us strengthen our social media presence, develop our marketing, and—if possible—contribute to fundraising activity. You do not need to cover all three areas; volunteers who can support even one of these priorities are very welcome. Your contribution will help us reach more survivors, promote our programmes, and raise awareness of domestic abuse in our community. A key part of the role is supporting our social media strategy. You will work closely with the CEO to plan content that reflects our trauma‑informed ethos, highlights our programmes, and shares accessible information about healthy relationships, recovery and safety. This may include helping to shape a monthly content plan, suggesting themes or campaigns, drafting posts, or advising on how to increase engagement. You will help us communicate clearly, compassionately and consistently across platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn. We also need support with marketing our programmes and training opportunities. Alumah delivers accredited courses, professional training, and group programmes for children, young people and adults. Your role may involve helping us present these opportunities in a way that is engaging and easy to understand, creating simple promotional materials, or advising on how best to reach schools, professionals, partner organisations and the wider community. Clear, confident marketing helps ensure that people who need our support know where to find us. If you have experience or interest in fundraising, your skills would be hugely appreciated. This could include helping us identify potential donors, supporting small campaigns, advising on community fundraising ideas, or helping us communicate the impact of our work. Fundraising is not essential for this role, but it is a valuable optional area where volunteers can make a meaningful difference. Throughout the role, you will be supported by the CEO and will work alongside a small, dedicated team who are passionate about creating safer futures for survivors of domestic abuse. We value volunteers who bring creativity, reliability and a collaborative spirit. You do not need specialist knowledge of domestic abuse—just a willingness to learn and a commitment to communicating in a sensitive, non‑judgmental and trauma‑aware way. Your contribution will help Alumah reach more people, strengthen our voice, and ensure our programmes and training opportunities are visible to those who need them. Whether you support social media, marketing, fundraising or a combination of these, your involvement will directly help survivors access safety, understanding and hope. If you can help with even one of these key areas, we would be delighted to hear from you. J-18808-Ljbffr
