Looking to Apply Your Psychology Knowledge in a Real-World Setting?

Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with specialist SEN/SEMH provisions across Stoke-on-Trent that are looking for Psychology Graduates to support young people with additional needs.

This is a fantastic opportunity for psychology graduates, trainee psychologists, or individuals currently studying psychology who want to gain valuable practical experience and develop skills that directly link to their studies.

Working within a SEMH environment, you will gain first-hand experience supporting young people with social, emotional, and mental health needs, while developing your understanding of behaviour, communication, safeguarding, and positive interventions.

Whether you are looking for a full-time long-term role to build your experience or flexible day-to-day work alongside your studies, we have opportunities to suit your circumstances.

The Role

  • Support young people with SEMH needs and barriers to learning.
  • Build positive relationships and provide emotional and pastoral support.
  • Apply psychological theory and understanding to real-life situations.
  • Support students with behaviour regulation and engagement.
  • Work alongside teachers, support staff, and pastoral teams.
  • Help create a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment.
  • Encourage confidence, independence, and personal development.

We're Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has a degree in Psychology or is currently studying towards one.
  • Is passionate about supporting children and young people.
  • Has an interest in SEMH, behaviour, mental health, or education.
  • Has strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships.
  • Is patient, resilient, and adaptable.
  • Wants to gain practical experience within an educational setting.
  • Has previous experience working with young people (desirable but not essential).

Why Consider This Role?

  • Excellent opportunity to put psychology theory into practice.
  • Gain valuable experience for future careers in psychology, education, counselling, or support roles.
  • Develop practical skills working with vulnerable young people.
  • Work within supportive SEN/SEMH settings.
  • Flexible opportunities available around university commitments.
  • Full-time long-term roles available for graduates looking to develop their experience.
  • Support from Teaching Personnel throughout your placement.

To Be Eligible For This Role Through Teaching Personnel, You Must:

  • Hold the right to work in the UK.
  • Have an enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one.
