    • Conduct a risk analysis of ships and marine structures, using the regulations of classification societies and intergovernmental organisations such as the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), to assess aspects of design such as strength, stability and lifesaving
    • Ensure projects are completed in accordance with industry standards
    • Provide on-board safety training for crews (for naval architects with seafaring experience).
  • Other operational responsibilities may include:
    • Managing procurement

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in a relevant STEM discipline (e.g., Naval Architecture, Ship Science, Marine Technology, Marine Engineering), or equivalent experience in the naval and commercial ship design, construction, or maintenance domain.
  • Professional member of a relevant engineering institution (e.g., RINA, IMarEST, IMechE, IET).
  • Recognised as an Incorporated or Chartered Engineer by the UK Engineering Council (or an ability to achieve within 24 months).
