Job description
Following an expansion of the service as part of the Experts at Hand offer (National Reforms), we are delighted to be offering this exciting promotional opportunity for a member of the existing CYC Educational Psychology Service for a 0.6 FTE Senior Educational Psychologist (SEP) to support the management of the EPS. As a Senior EP, you will be required to demonstrate skills and aptitudes to think strategically, innovatively and effectively manage a team of highly competent psychologists, trainees and assistant Educational Psychologists. We offer a needs-led service model that supports a graduated approach through consultation, building capacity at SEN support and provide high quality statutory assessments across the 0-25 age range. Service priorities include: developing ELSAs in schools, barriers to school attendance, anti-oppressive practice, promoting trauma-informed practice in schools and settings and supporting the LA offer for neurodiverse children/young people. We also lead the critical incident response in schools. The Educational Psychology Service sits within the integrated SEND service as part of the Education and Skills team. We are looking for a highly motivated and passionate EP who will be: * Committed to inclusive practice, providing effective leadership, role modelling and supervision. * Collaborative team player, building strong relationships and contributing to internal and external partnerships. * Experienced in line management, staff development and project leadership. * Passionate about capacity building, including leading and promoting traded services and training programmes. * Ensures high-quality, timely EHC planning, supporting effective identification of need, SMART outcomes and specific provision. * Dedicated advocate for Childrens Rights. * Maintains professional standards through recruitment, induction, supervision and performance management of EPs at all levels. * Confident and highly skilled presenter and trainer for large multi-agency audiences. * Excellent communicator with strong organisational and time-management skills. * Creative, adaptable and solution-focused. We Will Provide * excellent professional relationships in a lively, proactive and highly competent EP team * access to regular supervision (individual, group and peer) * Excellent opportunities to develop specialist skills and undertake joint work with colleagues * opportunities for CPD, including leadership and management skills * opportunities to lead on service development, including Local Authority initiatives * comprehensive IT support including the provision of a laptop and smartphone * flexible hybrid working arrangements, including multiple bases across the city * generous annual leave (34 days pro rata) * an excellent Local Authority staff benefit scheme with a wide range of clubs/societies In addition to having an Honours degree in Psychology and a postgraduate professional qualification in Educational Psychology at Doctorate or Masters level, you will be expected to have gained a minimum of 3 years experience as a qualified EP registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), with experience of line-managing and supervising psychologists and/or relevant colleagues. This authority is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Any offer of employment to this post will be subject to receipt of a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). A full and valid driving licence is desirable. This is a customer facing role and as such the ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post. This requirement is in accordance with Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 (Fluency Duty). This post is suitable as a job sharing position. We require the successful candidate to undertake an enhanced Criminal Record check via the Disclosure and Barring Service. As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C2: Can express themselves spontaneously at length with a natural conversational flow, avoiding or backtracking around any difficulty so smoothly that the person with whom they are conversing is hardly aware of it. Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team. Please note, we do not have a sponsorship licence to sponsor individuals for visas to work in the UK, therefore we are unable to offer sponsorship for this role.
