Instant Impact in partnership with NatCen The National Centre for Social Research are hiring a Facilities Assistant Apprentice to support the smooth day-to-day running of NatCens workplace services across its London and Ashton Gate sites. The role sits within the Facilities Team and reports to the Facilities Supervisor.

You will gain practical hands-on experience across facilities operations workplace services maintenance support health and safety customer service sustainability compliance and continuous improvement while completing a Level 2 Facilities Services Operative apprenticeship.


Key Responsibilities


  • Support day-to-day facilities operations: assist with maintenance requests help keep office spaces safe clean and well organised and escalate issues where needed.
  • Help keep workplaces running smoothly: support room setups office moves space organisation housekeeping and shared office presentation standards.
  • Deliver helpful workplace services: provide front-of-house support help with reception cover operate the switchboard manage visitor sign-in and support colleagues with facilities requests.
  • Support health safety and compliance: assist with health and safety checks fire drills and workplace safety processes following procedures and escalating concerns promptly.
  • Work with contractors and suppliers: help coordinate contractors visiting site support sign-in processes and make sure safety procedures are followed.
  • Assist with equipment stock and administration: provide basic first-line support for meeting room equipment help manage office and IT consumables support ordering and assist with records and administration.
  • Learn and develop through the apprenticeship: build positive relationships with colleagues and suppliers take an active role in your learning and develop core facilities management skills.


Skills Knowledge & Expertise


  • An interest in facilities management workplace services or supporting the smooth running of an organisation.
  • Willingness to learn and complete a Level 2 apprenticeship programme.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills with a helpful and responsive approach.
  • Basic IT skills including Microsoft Office or a willingness to learn.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions carefully.
  • Reliability punctuality organisation and a positive attitude.
  • Awareness of the importance of sustainability safe working practices and good customer service in a facilities environment.
You will need GCSE English Language and Maths at grade C/4 or above or equivalent. You must also meet the apprenticeship eligibility requirements in place at the time of appointment including any literacy and numeracy assessments required by the training provider.
