You will work at the forefront of targeted lung health interventions, supporting patients through screening pathways, diagnostic investigations, and onward referral. Main duties of the job * Provide specialist nursing expertise across the Lung Cancer Screening (LCS) pathway. * Undertake holistic assessments, risk evaluations, and personalised support for individuals identified through screening. * Act as a key point of contact for patients, families, and carers, offering clear information, emotional support, and guidance. * Work collaboratively with respiratory physicians, radiologists, cancer nurse specialists, and primary care colleagues. * Support shared decision‑making and promote smoking cessation, health improvement, and early intervention. * Contribute to service development, audit, and quality improvement initiatives. * Participate in MDT meetings and ensure seamless coordination of care. * Maintain accurate clinical documentation and uphold the highest standards of professional practice. Experience * Proven post registration experience with proven experience in specialist field * A broad range of experience working with respiratory patients and their families who have complex psychosocial needs * Experience of teaching and assessing in clinical practice * Can demonstrate evidence of leading service development, implementing change, audit and research Qualifications * RGN (level 1) with NMC * Evidence of relevant post registration study * Evidence of studying at a minimum of level 3 (first degree) * Evidence of relevant CPD * Teaching/mentor training * Advanced communication skills course Knowledge * Able to demonstrate specialist knowledge of own patient group * IT competent * Clinical knowledge of respiratory illness Skills * Able to communicate disease, treatment, and related information to patients, carers and others * Able to communicate complex/sensitive/technical information, clearly and with empathy in a variety of settings * Ability to organise, prioritise and co‑ordinate your own workload and work autonomously * Car owner/driver and willing to travel within the remit of the service needs (community setting and hospital setting) Disclosure and Barring Service Check This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
