Job summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and autonomous Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) to join our Team. This role is pivotal in providing high-quality, patient-centred care in a fast-paced, supportive general practice environment.

As an ANP, you will lead on delivering undifferentiated primary care to a varied patient population, working independently but with access to clinical support from the practice team. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence in clinical assessment, decision-making, and prescribing, with a commitment to upholding the standards of care and safety expected by Gateshead Healthcare.

Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities
The Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) will utilise advanced clinical knowledge and skills to independently assess, diagnose, treat, prescribe, and provide expert advice to patients through face-to-face consultations, delivering evidence-based care that is safe, effective, and patient-centred.

The role includes responsibility for:
  • Delivering undifferentiated patient care during morning and afternoon clinical sessions.
  • Providing timely follow-up of patients and responding appropriately to ongoing case management requirements.
  • Practising autonomously within professional competence, adhering to current NICE guidance, national standards, and best practice.
  • Managing complex patient cases, ensuring appropriate clinical pathways are followed and tailored to meet the needs of both patients and the service.
  • Independently prescribing medications within scope of practice, ensuring safe, evidence-based prescribing in accordance with current legislation and professional standards.
