Main duties of the job
We are looking for highly motivated Staff Nurses, who have experience in a ward setting, to join our nursing team on E3 Green. Our team works in collaboration with E3 Blue, our neighbouring ward, having a combined leadership and senior team, which means you have a wide support network. We receive patients directly from Cardiac High Dependency (CHDU), Coronary Care Unit (CCU) and Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU), as well as elective cases and transfers from other hospitals our areas. Our education, training and development team works alongside individuals and teams in practice during core hours as required. Formal teaching sessions and study days are available as is advice on academic pathways and career planning. Our team is passionate about education and will coach new starters, promoting staff development and career progression.

About us
University Hospital Southampton is one of England's largest acute teaching Trusts, offering a wide range of learning and development opportunities to support your career aspirations. Located on the south coast with an international airport and direct rail links to London, Southampton offers an ideal setting to live and work, with the New Forest, South Downs and Jurassic Coast. We believe that using technology wisely shows strong time management and commitment to innovation. However, personalising your recruitment application to highlight your unique skills and experiences is crucial. Relying too heavily on generic, AI-generated content instead of drawing from your own strengths and accomplishments may lead to your application being rejected if multiple candidates present identical or similar information. At UHS, we're committed to providing a flexible working environment where possible. Whether you are balancing family, study, or your wellbeing with your career, we want to support you so you can help our patients. At UHS, we proudly champion individuality, recognising that outstanding care is only possible with a diverse, inclusive team. We're committed to creating an anti-racist, anti-discriminatory environment where everyone feels valued, safe, and empowered to make a meaningful impact in our communities. We welcome applicants of all backgrounds, identities, and experiences to join us in building a healthcare community where everyone can belong, thrive, and contribute.

Job responsibilities
Successful candidates will be provided with a supernumerary period, unit induction sessions, bedside coaching, and a competency-based programme to support you through your career progression. You will receive yearly appraisals to ensure that your development is ongoing, and the management team are approachable to deal with any queries that staff may have. Furthermore, our team of Specialist Nurses and Nurse Practitioners support our specialist nursing service. We have a firm commitment to staff development to enable us to deliver high standards of care to enhance the patients experience. We are a dedicated team, proud of the care, service, and experience that we offer and provide for our patients. The Care Group has a local, national, and international reputation of delivering expert Cardiothoracic Care.
