Job description
Join our Acupuncture Teaching Team in York Help shape the practitioners of tomorrow through exceptional acupuncture education. Why join us? Based in York, with clinical teaching hubs in Northwich and London, we are known for our supportive community, person-centred ethos, and commitment to academic and professional excellence. Our BSc (Hons) in Acupuncture has been running since 2008. It is fully accredited by the British Acupuncture Accreditation Board (BAAB) and validated by the Health Sciences University. We believe that outstanding practitioners are developed not only through excellent clinical teaching, but through reflection, professional identity and personal growth. The Being & Becoming module focuses on students' personal and professional development alongside their academic studies. We're looking for an enthusiastic and collaborative Module Leader to lead this module and provide an engaging learning experience for our students. On-site free parking in city-centre York A meaningful role in a values-led educational charity shaping the future of acupuncture education About the role: We're looking for a qualified and practising acupuncturist with up-to-date knowledge of acupuncture practice to lead our Being & Becoming module on the BSc (Hons) Acupuncture programme. This is a key academic leadership role, responsible for ensuring the module is delivered to the highest standards while providing students with an engaging learning experience that supports their personal and professional development. Working closely with the Course Lead, fellow Module Leaders and teaching team, you'll oversee module delivery, assessment, quality assurance and curriculum enhancement, ensuring the module remains integrated within the wider programme. Role details: Location: York Hours: 0.2 FTE (approximately one day per week, annualised) Working pattern: Includes scheduled weekend teaching and attendance at key academic meetings throughout the year Salary: Spinal Point 22: £8124.46 (full-time equivalent £40,622.40) Reporting to: Course Lead Start date: 1st September 2026 What you'll be doing: As Module Leader, you'll provide academic leadership for the Being & Becoming module, ensuring students receive an engaging, reflective and high-quality educational experience. You will: Lead the planning, delivery and continuous development of the Being & Becoming module. Lead and support the module teaching team, including providing guidance to lecturers and tutors to deliver engaging, student-centred teaching. Design and deliver teaching sessions within your area of expertise. Lead the assessment process, including assessment design, marking, moderation and quality assurance. Support the recruitment, induction and ongoing development of lecturers and tutors within the module team. Monitor module quality, review student feedback and implement ongoing improvements. Work collaboratively with other Module Leaders, Clinic Supervisors and the Course Lead to ensure the module integrates effectively across the programme. Provide academic guidance and pastoral support to students, including acting as a Personal Development Tutor. Participate in College training, peer review and annual development activities to support continuous improvement. Prepare reports on student and module performance for College committees. Contribute to curriculum development, accreditation activities and quality enhancement across the programme. Participate in assessment boards, Boards of Study, Module Leaders' meetings and College development events. Act as a positive role model within the College community, demonstrating high standards of professional practice and alignment with NCA's values. What we're looking for: Essential: A qualified and practising acupuncturist. Experience teaching within higher education or professional education. Excellent subject knowledge relating to acupuncture and professional practice. Experience designing and delivering engaging teaching, including online learning where appropriate. Experience of assessment, marking and maintaining academic standards. Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Confidence using Microsoft Office applications. A collaborative, reflective and compassionate approach to working with students and colleagues. Desirable: Experience leading or coordinating a module or curriculum area. Experience supporting curriculum development or quality assurance. Knowledge of Moodle, SharePoint or other virtual learning environments. Experience acting as a Personal Tutor or providing pastoral support. Understanding of higher education quality assurance and validation processes.
