Job description

Job Summary
Are you a Rheumatologist looking to join a dynamic team and to take an active part in shaping future Rheumatology services in North Cumbria? Why not consider joining us in our modern hospitals on the edge of the beautiful Lake District National Park?

NCIC is working in partnership with The Pears Cumbria School of Medicine. This will offer potential opportunities to support rural and remote medicine as well as help "grow our own" medical workforce within Cumbria.

The post will be based at the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle but the post holder will be required to work at other sites within the Trust.

On-calls within General Medicine would also be available if desired by the candidate.

Main duties of the job
Applications are welcome from candidates wishing to work full or part time in Rheumatology. In the course of his/her work the job holder liaises with nursing, professional and technical, social work and administrative staff.

An educational supervisor will be assigned to provide support. Appraisal and Job Planning is carried out at regular intervals, and forwarded to the specialty lead. The programme of training for each individual doctor will be flexible depending on his/her particular needs and stage of training.

About us
At NCIC, we have an ambition to deliver outstanding healthcare services to the population of North Cumbria. The Trust is committed to creating a centre of excellence in providing rural and remote healthcare and provides a wide range of community and acute services throughout our county.

Our 5 key principles demonstrate our belief in the delivery of 'safe, high quality care every time':

  • Being a clinically led organisation
  • Quality and safety at the heart of our Trust
  • A positive patient experience every time
  • A great place to work
  • Managing our money well

As an organisation we are serious about supporting a diverse workforce that reflects our local community and are very much focused on being an inclusive and compassionate place to work.

Across the North East and North Cumbria we are working together to deliver our ambition to be the greenest region in England by 2030. All staff are expected to support sustainability.
