Job description
Denys Wilkinson Building and Physics Teaching Labs, Mansfield Road, Oxford Applications are open for a Teaching Faculty Administration Support Officer, at the Department of Physics, Oxford University. Oxford Physics is one of the largest and most eminent departments in Europe – pursuing forefront research alongside training the next generation of leaders in Physics. The Department of Physics are looking to recruit a Teaching Faculty Administration Support Officer on a part-time two year fixed term position on 18.25 hours per week. This is a busy and responsible role requiring a highly organised and detail-orientated individual with a flexible approach to work and an excellent team player. The primary responsibility of this post is to assist the Teaching Office with the day-to-day tasks of supporting around 700 students across 4 years of their undergraduate degree. The post-holder will be required to deal with a wide range of matters, sometimes of a highly confidential nature, on behalf of the Teaching Laboratory Manager and Assistant Head of Teaching. Consequently, they should have strong and accurate written, numeric and IT skills (including Excel) and also possess the interpersonal skills to support members of the Teaching Faculty. Currently the Physics Teaching Laboratories are based on two sites (approx. 15 mins walk apart) and the role will require working across both sites on a daily basis. Attention to detail and accuracy, excellent IT skills, confidence with technology including text processors, spreadsheets and a basic familiarity with coding. The ability to produce well presented reports and manage all correspondences. Experience of updating documentation and working on confidential matters and the ability to prioritise a varied and busy workload and work to tight deadlines are also essential.
