Build a brilliant future with Hiscox

About Hiscox UK

Hiscox UK is a leading brand in the insurance market, recognised as setting the standards others try to emulate. We consistently deliver strong growth and exceptional returns, recruiting only the very best and empowering them to deliver. We are known for insuring the homes of the rich and famous through to the most innovative technology companies. Our customers are diverse and unique and are only united by our ability to provide specialist insurance tailored to their needs.

The Role

The Continuous Improvement Lead role is to support the Continuous Improvement Manager in building a continuous improvement capability and culture within Hiscox UK. Utilising Lean Six Sigma and Systems Thinking based methodologies to engage teams in solving customer problems. Through being customer obsessed you will drive speed, quality and simplification by eliminating failure demand and rework, reducing and automating manual work and hand-offs, identifying and implementing best practices across the business, and minimizing process variability through standardisation and automation. As well as this, you will be an instrumental part of shaping the team which will be relentless in driving value by making it easy for our people to do the right things for our customers and our business

What you’ll be doing

  • Driving & embedding a culture of sustainable Continuous Improvement (CI) within the business

  • Leading, coaching and mentoring the Business Teams in both technical CI skills, Better Ways of Working and change management skills to improve delivery capability and experience

  • Leading by demonstration of application: complex improvement initiatives and implementing a problem led, data driven and evidence-based approach to recommendations and decision making

  • Working closely with the Continuous Improvement Manager and Service Delivery Managers to plan and prioritise CI interventions, according to greatest return

  • Supporting the definition and delivery of a portfolio of business improvement projects through the application of Lean Six Sigma and project management tools

  • Maximising the impact of the CI function, through rigorous focus on reducing waste and cycle time, improving turnaround time and identifying automation opportunities

  • Using Change Leadership and Behavioural Change techniques to engage the business in change initiatives to ensure they are taken on the journey

  • Be confident and resilient in challenging the “status quo”

  • Acting as a SME in the implementation of process automation and robotics

  • Securing the appropriate business sponsorship for allocated improvement projects.

  • Actively identifying potential risks & issues relating to the delivery of projects and managing a resolution process in a timely manner, only escalating major issues

  • Working with the Business teams to develop and implement data gathering techniques to identify and rank opportunities for continuous improvement

  • Establishing KPIs and measures to monitor and improve process efficiency: working with the CI Manager to establish a CI road map and monitoring system

  • Managing Benefits to ensure identification, tracking & realisation of financial benefits and non-financial benefits & outcomes

  • Ensuring the training, development and mentoring support in Yellow Belt, Green Belt, Root Cause Analysis, 5S, Kaizen and workshop facilitation techniques for colleagues, while being an exemplar of all of these skills among others

  • Completing post implementation reviews to ensure successful delivery has been achieved and to ensure that improvements can be made for future projects

Our Must Haves

  • Strong proven success supporting transformation and improvement programmes in complex organisations

  • Experience within financial services (insurance experience preferred)

  • Proven continuous improvement experience gained in a similar role, including project management and business analysis

  • Minimum accredited Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (or equivalent)

  • Ability to analyse, interpret, structure and present data in a meaningful way to inform decision-making

  • Excellent leadership, stakeholder management and influencing skills

  • Experience in change management and innovation within a professional services environment

  • Demonstrable ability to use a variety of measures and methodologies to understand and solve business problems

  • Expert user of Microsoft applications including Visio, PowerPoint, Project, Excel, Word and Outlook

  • Demonstrable ability to develop and inspire a continuous improvement culture

Nice to Have

  • Insurance sector experience

  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt

  • Operational excellence or transformation experience within underwriting, operations or distribution environments

.
