Job descriptionSenior CAMHS Crisis Practitioner The closing date is 03 August 2026 We are looking for an experienced, skilled and confident Senior CAMHS Practitioner to join our ever-developing team. The successful applicant will be a caring and flexible practitioner who embraces change and thrives in a creative atmosphere. The service works in collaboration with the South London Partnership (SLP) Crisis Service, which is itself a partnership between Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust, South London & Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, and South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust. The SLP CAMHS New Models of Care Programme aims to transform services through partnership‑working, delivering best practice consistently to support young people and their families. The CAMHS Response Team is a nurse‑led community outreach team that provides assessments for young people with mental health needs who present with, or are at risk of, going into crisis at A&E departments, on paediatric wards or through Community CAMHS services. We are currently developing a 24‑hour provision within the A&E environment in which you will have a key role, as well as providing a range of short‑term, community‑based assessment and treatment options for up to two weeks for this group of young people and advice and support for parents/carers in partnership with various internal and external agencies. This is an in‑person role requiring work across multiple hospital and community‑based environments over a 24‑hour period. The Centralised CAMHS Crisis Team is based at Denmark Hill, five minutes from the train station (zone 2), within walking distance of Ruskin Park and a high street that offers shopping opportunities and a wide range of restaurants. Person Specification Education and Qualification * BSc Degree in Nursing (Mental Health, Pediatric, Learning Disability) or equivalent * BSc in Social Work degree or equivalent * BSc in Occupational Therapy or equivalent * Professional registration with one of the following statutory bodies: Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC), Health & Care Professional’s Council (HCPC), Association of Child Psychotherapists (ACP), UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) Experience and Knowledge * Experience working in CAMHS or an acute setting * Experience of research‑based or reflective practice * Significant relevant clinical experience * Evidence of continuing professional development * Experience as a preceptor or mentor * Knowledge of clinical governance and audit * Knowledge of adult and child safeguarding * Knowledge of mental health legislation and its practical application * Experience of taking responsibility for a ward, clinical unit or service Skills and Abilities * Ability to provide quality care that is responsive to service users’ needs * Ability to supervise clinically * Self‑aware, self‑confident and intrinsically motivated to do a good job and to motivate others * Forming very effective working relationships with colleagues * Advocating for all individuals, particularly those with protected characteristics, and promoting equality and diversity Other Requirements * Empathy for service users, including those who have experienced mental health problems Disclosure and Barring Service Check This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and will require a submission to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
