Job description

The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead is looking for a dedicated and skilled Occupational Therapist to join our Adult Social Care team. About the Role

As an Occupational Therapist, you will deliver a high-quality, person-centred Occupational Therapy and Reablement service to adults with physical disabilities, long-term conditions, frailty, and age-related needs.

You'll take ownership of a varied caseload, including complex and high-risk cases, working collaboratively with residents, carers, healthcare professionals, and partner agencies to develop practical solutions that promote independence and wellbeing.

Your work will have a direct impact on helping people:

Remain independent in their own homes

Avoid unnecessary hospital admissions

Return home safely from hospital settings

Access specialist equipment and adaptations

Improve quality of life and achieve meaningful goals

Contract: Initially 3 months

Location: Maidenhead - SL6

Payrate: £29.05 p/h PAYE - £38 p/h Umbrella

Working arrangements: Hybrid - Full time, Monday to Friday.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Delivering professional Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions across the community.
  • Completing functional, environmental, postural, seating, and manual handling assessments.
  • Recommending and arranging specialist equipment, assistive technology, and home adaptations.
  • Supporting hospital discharges, reablement, and rehabilitation pathways.
  • Working within a strengths-based approach to help individuals achieve SMART outcomes.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, health colleagues, carers, and partner agencies.
  • Contributing to safeguarding enquiries and risk assessments.
  • Supporting Disabled Facilities Grant and rehousing assessments.
  • Maintaining accurate electronic records and managing a busy caseload effectively.
  • Participating in duty and triage services on a rota basis.
  • Supporting service development and continuous improvement initiatives.
About You

We're looking for someone who combines clinical expertise with compassion, creativity, and a commitment to delivering outstanding person-centred care.

Essential Qualifications
  • BSc (Hons) or MSc in Occupational Therapy.
  • Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Membership of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT).
Experience

You'll bring experience working with vulnerable adults in one or more of the following areas:

  • Physical Disabilities
  • Older People
  • Learning Disabilities
  • Mental Health

You'll also have experience in community services, Adult Social Care, hospitals, residential settings, or other relevant health and social care environments.

Skills and Knowledge
  • Strong understanding of the Care Act 2014 and Mental Capacity Act.
  • Experience undertaking complex assessments and developing person-centred interventions.
  • Knowledge of specialist equipment, adaptations, and assistive technology.
  • Excellent communication and partnership-working skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work autonomously.
  • Experience working effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Commitment to evidence-based practice, professional development, and RCOT standards.
